Commander Keen:
Lost in Time
Here is a review on the new Game, Lost in Time.
This is the second best game that is coming
out, second only to Isis II. The game generally has all new enemies,
all new music, and items. Also in the game, there is a new weapon.
They've replace the Neural Stunner with the Zeural Stunner. This
game it the first in a series of 7, and is made by Vapor Technologies.
Here's some info on the game. If you want the game to be a suprise,
better not look down here, cause there's also some info on the upcoming
games, episodes 2-6.
Lost in Time has a new weapon, the Zeural Stunner.
Commander Keen collects new items, has a new helmet, new clothes, and new
shoes! None of the graphics in this game came from the originals. Some
of them are just discolorations of the originals, but at least it's something
different. It has all-new enemies, most of which are drawn by Ilsoap. There
is a chance that there will be pogo in the full version, but that is a
possibilty. Orb knows for sure how to do it, but says that it would be
difficult to add at this stage and will probably be saved for the sequels.
The game also has all-new music, sounds, and almost everything else. This
game is entirely original. There is a new "Game Over screen," there is
a high score table, there is an extensive help section, and Commander Keen
dies in a different way. Please note that some of the features described
here are not in the demo version. Also, please note that some of the features
of the demo are not in the full version. The screenshots are from the under
construction full version. The full version has a smaller screen resolution,
which makes it scroll much faster. The demo was made by Orb and Ilsoap,
not by Vapor Technologies. The full version will be by Vapor Technologies.
Next is a run down of all the levels in the game...
Stone Age- Run around avoiding woolly mammoths,
rocks, spikes, and saber-toothed tigers.
Ice Age- Elude evil snowmen, icicles,
and fires.
Ancient Egyptian Age- Escape from mummies,
the Sphinx's nose, and maybe even the flooding of the Nile!
Medieval Age- Run away from knights, magical
swords, and dragons. You also have to outsmart a Merlin gone mad!
Roman Empire Age- Avoid the carts in a
Roman racetrackand flying spaghetti and meatballs. Fight with Toga Man
at the end! You might even have a chance to play the secret game within
a game (still not promised) in which you get to race against the best Roman
racers!
Black Death Epidemic Age- Elude infected
rats and the sewage thrown out of people's windows. Gardaloo!
Industrial Revolution- Don't go anywhere
near the zany machines!
Modern Age- Just wander around your house
avoiding your sister's werehamster and mutant bugs. Just make sure you
don't flip on the lights or jump on your parents' bed!
Moon Base Age- You're lost in the wilderness
on the moon. You wander around meeting various aliens until you find a
moon base, in which you'll find some surprises.
Space Age- You're weightless! This will
be a really weird place to visit.
Some time periods may be added; some may be removed. These are just
Vapor Technologies' current ideas.
Here's a few screenshots from the game...
A shot from the Stone Age.
Another shot from the Stone
Age
A shot I'm guessing is from
the Ice Age.
Now for the spoiler about the upcoming episodes...
In episode one, Commander Keen is exploring time.
At the end, he finds himself floating in space. The moon hurtles by, but
the Earth is nowhere to be found! Commander Keen assumes that it was Mortimer,
but he needed to be sure. He happened to see the Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket
nearby, jumped in, and set the coordinates to the Chunsticus System. He
needed to go to Chunsticus VIII to ask the omniscient guru what was going
on. There was a fleet of ships coming toward him. They didn't look too
friendly.
Episode two isn't going to be a platform game.
You must beat the fleets of ships that are attacking Commander Keen. At
the end, you get shot down by a humongous mothership onto an uncharted
planet. You faint on impact. When you wake up, you discover that someone
has stolen your ship! You must wander around this forsaken planet trying
to find out who took your ship.
In episode three, you wander around a planet
much like Earth's trying to find replacement parts for your ship. You finally
make it and blast off to Chunsticus VIII.
In epsisode four, you wander around Chunsticus
VIII trying to find the Mystic Mountain, home of the omniscient guru. At
the end, he tells you that a terrorist organization based in Bei'jing had
destroyed Earth. They had held the last giant panda hostage and asked for
a fifty trillion dollar ransom. It wasn't payed, so the terrorist organization
(Remitrom) exploded Earth.
In episode five, you wander around the wilderness
trying to find Remitrom's secret base. At the end, you find it.
In episode six, you must infiltrate the guards.
At the end, you are fixing to pick the lock when you hear a voice. You
whirl around. It's Mortimer. He seems bewildered as to why you didn't figure
out that Remitrom spelled backwards is Mortimer. He challenges you to a
duel. As you fight, he fades. He asks you why you can't tell the difference
between a hologram and a real person. You quickly return the panda to the
Bei'jing authorities.
Who knows what will happen in episode seven? If you have any ideas,
please email them to be_vaporized@hotmail.com.
Also, since Orb gave me the info on LIT, he also asked for information
about his company, Vapor Technologies to be given. Here it is.
Vapor Technologies is a new company consisting of three members,
Jackm, Ilsoap, and Orb. They are going to be making all of the Commander
Keen in Time games. They also have a few secret games that are under development.
Their email address is be_vaporized@hotmail.com. Email them for more information
about their company.
