What was the biggest problem with CK2K?
Seriously....in hindsight, CK2K was totally messed up and pales in comparison to the official games. That's why I didn't get a cease-and-desist order from Tom Hall, like that guy in Europe who made that Lemmings clone game. What was his name? Peter Spada? Anyway, please be honest. I think these five choices cover all the bases. Thanks. Big help.
Too many ripped graphics
Keen moved too fast and jumped wierd
Not enough effort in the homemade graphics
Bosses were messed up
Too many inside jokes, self-indulgences and pop culture references (Oh my god, they killed Kenny!)

I don't mean to sound harsh but - everything. Weird controls. The way Keen moved as well. If I recall correctly it ran at 640x480, if you're gonna used ripped graphics you should put em at their original res. Also have animation frames for the bad guys ;)

Re: What was the biggest problem with CK2K?
Personally, I found the controls the most annoying.

Another, smaller, thing was that it seemed that you were making up the story as you were making the game.

PS The Isis II project didn't get a letter from Tom Hall, nor did the 50+ other Keen games since you were away, except for that latest one which got debunked by ID, NOT by Tom Hall.

PPS WELCOME BACK, AR! Where the heck have you been? What happened to Keen 3000, Keen 4000 and Keen 5000? :p

I thought it was a great game! If you look in my unofficial games review also in this forum, i gave it a 9 out of 10! And that is the honest truth. But I have to admit that the controls sucked. To me, the graphics don't really matter, what matters is the gameplay. I thought the game was fun to play, and BTW, GREAT music! You had some really great music in that game. Yeah, the controls sucked but that's not that bad. And Snortimer, I swear I've seen CK3K out there. I saw it on Commander Keen Online, and on another site but I couldn't download it for some reason. I don't know if it's the real thing or not.

Of course - all those things was prolly very annoying, but the game is kind of classic! Very cool you're back, A.R.!

MMM yeah, KMS got letters from Tom Hall but he said it was cool. It was that moron - I mean - guy - Todd Hollenshead who killed that particular game.

I'm sure if Tom was at id, he would be letting you guys make your game.

The unknown future rolls towards us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.

I succumbed to FPS games, but I still like a good adventure game just like I did back in the day, and I still like Keen.
Playing FPS games doesn't mean you need to use the word "or", unless you're using it in the logical OR sense as opposed to the what-normal-people-mean-sense of course.

As for the other people...
I have no idea... I remember some names, but I never knew anybody very well.

Re: I play, therefore I am.
I'll play any game that comes near me, as long as it doesn't require lightning reflexes, incredible brainpower or an ability not to scream if the game suddenly shocks you. Arrghh. I like N, a platform game involving ninjas and evil robots. Yes, it may require one of the above but this is made up by the feeling of skill you get when you complete a level.

Some n00b dug up the topic, did they? "hurts4life" is such an appropriate nick in the circumstances... *fetches stake and mallet*

Despite K2000's bad physics, graphics and everything else possible, it sticks in my heart as the first Keen fangame I encountered. And my soul. And my brain. And my boots.

If Keen eats all that sugar, why doesn't he get a coronary?
