Norp the Yorp in Inside Mortimer's Computer - COMPLETE
Yes, my keen1 mod is complete, online at:

www20.brinkster.com/xtraverse/norp.zip

BTW, when you play the game, BE SURE TO RUN Norp.bat, NOT Keen1.exe.

Great! One problem though...in your credits list (located in readme.txt), you forgot the most important person of the KMO2 Development Team: Geoff Sims! He's the one who actually programmed it (Steven did the save routine, Ben did the opening splash screen, and I captured and named all the tiles/tilelists).

I will be playing it soon though...and definately adding it to the levels page on CC314.

My review...
Good job! I'd give the mod a 6/10 (I personally ranked Yorphius at a 5/10).

I love the idea of the game, it is definitely an original concept, and there were some level designs that were also imaginative, but on the whole, I think there were quite a few missed opportunities. I would have loved to see some more background art, while I was playing the levels, had I not read the story, I wouldn't have gotten the feeling that I was in a computer. Also, the point items were candy. Inside a computer, that didn't really make sense to me.

The enemies were all cool (although I couldn't quite tell what the Vorticon sprites were supposed to be).

Anyways, that's it. I won't be deleting this one from my computer. :)

Re: My review...
A peach isn't candy! It's healthy! hehe...thanks for the review, and I will probably go back and add a lot more background art in a few months, before I start working on the second mod in that series.

I just beat it and I’d have to say it’s pretty good.

Good (7/10)
Quality - 8/10
Originality - 8/10
Keenishness - 6/10

Those may change since I haven’t officially reviewed it yet.

Re: great
that`s a big fun and a great game idea... I hope you will make two sequels in KEEN 2 and KEEN 3 - style...
By the way I believe it`s extremly much harder as the original KEEN 1. I wasn`t able to complete it without cheats, but it`s nice, that the game also has the same cheats like the original "Invasion of the Vorticons" - series. Thanks for that cool game.

Re: keenishness
The ideas of Keenishness differs greatly, some Keen fans like MRC think Keen Dreams is very ideal for Keenishness and others think Keen5 and it’s kind of sophisticated feel are more Keenish. I think their both Keeenish, but comes down to personal opinion or perspective on the Keen games.

Some time ago the newsletter was going to do an article about Keenishness, here’s what some of us had to say. (I agree with all that’s said.)

Yorpy:
Keenishness is a certain kind of innocence that only Commander Keen games can exemplify. It's just not about defeating enemies and saving planets, it is about living childhood dreams. Excitement, intelligence, and suspense are all elements that make up Keenishness. It would be a dream of almost every child to explore the universe embarking on many adventures while foiling every plan of their archenemy. Keenishness is a gateway to a simpler, kinder, and more fantastic world where you can have fun while saving the world from demise. Creatures are not scary they are colorful and attention grabbing. There are no dark frightening corners in Keen's world, only more places to go and discover.

MRC:
I don't quite know what to tell about Keenishness, except that Yorpy's definition is very close to the one that i have had in my mind. Despite the simplicity of the Keen games regarding their graphics, gameplay, and storyline, the game turns out to be a fully conducted, complete saga. Because of the easy, simple gameplay, and the childish setting in the game, it's sort of easy to relate to Commander Keen, and experience his adventures through a closer relationship with the hero.
