You know how Star Wars and Star Trek fans have conventions quite often (along with lots of other groups dedicated to shows and stuff)? I was wondering, what if there was a Commander Keen convention? What would you want to see there? Who would you want to see there? And, most importantly, would you even want to go?

Here's some of the things I'd envision seeing there:

- Day begins with Bobby Prince sitting down at a keyboard in the main auditorium area and everyone singing the lyrics to "You've Got to Eat Your Veggies" (a sort of Keen anthem). Afterwards, convention splits off into several sections:

- Guest speaker section: Tom Hall, Bobby Prince, the Carmack couple, and others speaking there. (Bobby Prince would probably speak first, since he'd also be due that afternoon at CosmoCon nearby)

- Gaming area: Test your skills at Keen, discover techniques to better "Keening", play Dopefish Forever against up to three other Keen fans on large-screen monitors.

- Debating room: For only the most devoted and nitpicky Keen fans. Debate such hot topics as "One-button vs. Two-button Firing" and "Keen's Pet Yorp: Norp or Spot?".

- Art room: See other people's drawings of Keen, see the originals of the comics seen at "The Chasm Of Strife" website.

- Cafeteria: Get all of your food needs here, with such fan favorites as Vorti-Cola and Vitalin, along with Vorti-Burgers and Tater Trooper Fries (not to mention the assorted Keen candy items)

- Day would end with actual versions of the trophies won in "Keen Awards 2002" given to their recipients.

I realize this is completely fictional, and couldn't possibly work since almost every time zone is represented by a lot of Keen fans (and thus, no single location would work). But still, what are some other things that would be there? Be as geeky as possible, as far as I understand, that's what these conventions are all about! :)

Objects in computer screen may be closer than they appear.

Ilsoap had dropped out the ultimate Pogo challenge!
Just as it appeared on TMST's "Commander Keen - Ten Years On", a two-laps long pogo competition would be held for the athelic fans.

Re: KeenCon
What a wonderful vision.

I hope there'd also be more trailers of the upcoming Shadowlands episode(s!!!), and maybe a never-before-seen revelation of the designs for The Universe Is Toast, before it got scrapped.

Then 3DRealms' Duke Nukem guy comes swaggering in. Silence descends. A cricket is heard chirping in the distance. In an instant, all the loyal die-hard Keensters are suddenly kicking the living snot out of Duke. Security and police swarm in with tear gas. Many are arrested. It gets on the news. Side Scroller Platform games are banned because they (reportedly) make children become violent.

The next year, at DukeCon, a breakaway terrorist league of Keensters, disguised with grid iron helmets, gate-crash the proceedings and plug their Keen-values to those present, before evading arrest by using their fleet of pogo sticks.

Um...

Nice toon, TMST. I hope things are actually being kept real enough for the fish's true origins to be known in the big wide world.

not entirely immpossible
all this, well most of this can be possible, not physically, but electronically. a huge worldwide e-conference could be held, annually. die-hard fans could conduct state, or local pogo competitions and post the highlights followed by the results online. it could take place over the duration of a week or something so that all timezones could apply from America (all over) all the way to Sunny old England, (thats me!) and the rest of Europe and maybe even further! of course guest speackers couldnt appears but we could get interviews with photos etc and maybe even conviince Tom Hall and the rest of the team to post info,or even movie footage. think of the possibilties! we can do it if we unite and try hard!!!! whos with me!!!!!!!

not a physical event
it would be done over the internet, not in a real place because there are few of us that can afford to get to other places and many of us from different places, but online it could be possible...anyone wanna even try!? Keen taught us to us our initiative and use whats in our surroundings to help us, the resources we all have are the internet, and e-mails. so why not conduct it through those?!?!?

Actually, Keen never taught me anything... Then again, without Keen I wouldn't know about bloogs, or yorps, or gargs, or meeps, or foobs, or vorticons, or Mortimer McMire, or Impossible Pogo, or Impossible Bullet, or--SHUT UP!
:lol

Perhaps Keen Awards 2k3 could be held at the end of it as well.
