3-14... Six months later
As many of you recall, it was exactly 6 months ago when Shadowlands Episode 1 was first released. Since then, there has been much speculation about Episode 2 and beyond... well, I have good news and bad news.

Bad news, I'm not releasing Episode 2 yet.

AWWWWWWW....

Good news, the new Shadowlands website is now open!!!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY....

Without further ado, may I present, www.angelfire.com/emo/shadowlands! Of course, there's not a whole lot there yet, but there are already a few clues about what's in store for the future... if you know how to look for them...

Re: WID?
I solemnly promise that Shadowlands Episode II will NOT become a DNF. As I've said before, I plan on putting out a preview for it by the end of October.

Unfortunately, I was going to put more on the site, but my 56.6 K modem on my main computer wasn't working, so I had to move to my old computer with the 28.8 K (which I'm still using now).

And before you ask, yes, I do have two computers. My five-year-old one handles all the sound and music stuff (and some games), and my three-year-old one handles the animating.

Oh yeah... we're hi-tech over here. :)

Not a lot to do on that site now, but it's gonna be awesome!
So, I assume Professor Berke is in Episode 2? He appeared nowhere in Episode 1, which I've watched nearly 20 times since I like it so much.

I can't decide waiting on which sequel is worse....waiting for the Two Towers or Shadowlands Episode 2. :stoned

My favorite voice on it is the Slug King, he sounds so much like Guilmon on the Digimon show :)

Unfortunately, the site is pretty lame right now because, as I said, my main computer won't connect to the Net. >: (

Guilmon... as ashamed as I am to admit it, yes I watch Digimon, in fact I like it a great deal... the writing on that show is fabulously done. And you'll be in for a nice treat, most all of the slugs sound like that. (Little tidbit of info, I get a lot of ideas of cartoon voices from that show.)

Prof. Berke... I can neither confirm nor deny that.

I'm sorry, I just have to laugh. Maybe I watched the wrong episode to start me off on Digimon, but the only time I ever watched it (out of curiosity, mind you) I couldn't make head nor tail of the dialogue. It was digi-this and digi-that, digi-cycle, digi-vision, digi-wave ovens, digi-punch-in-the-digi-face, digi-food, digi-digereedoo... I thought the whole thing was confusing and just plain digi-stoopid!

Spleen vented......100%. Sorry if anyone got hurt.

lol... I'm not offended... it took me about 8 sittings to understand the thing. And because it's an ongoing storyline, if you haven't seen some of the episodes in the original series, stuff later on won't make nearly as much sense. But it actually does have quality stuff... and there are a lot of bad jokes too :)

IMO, it's sub-par anime ... there's MUCH better stuff out there, and I've seen enough of it to know that compared to some of the other stuff I've read/watched it pales in comparision.

Re: Digiwhat?
The only anime I've ever watched is one episode of Pokémon (hate it), Digimon (I don't get it) in the corner of my eye when my brother watches it, and My Neighbor Totoro, which aired on a Swedish movie channel. Despite it being some years ago, I still think I'd enjoy it if I'd see it now.

I wouldn't go into a panic or anything if the show went off the air. I just like it.

When I get around to watching it (as the schedule is quite sporatic), I enjoy Gundam Wing. I think it's pretty good as far as translation goes, and is uncensored as well (on YTV, which is probably the reason why it airs late at night).

Anime discussion
Although I don't "like" the rigidity of anime characters (I'm more of a fan of old school Bugs Bunny cartoons), I have to admire the efficiency with which these cartoons are typically animated - despite all those "animation shortcuts" that the Japanese are famous for, the cartoons still get away with looking acceptibly animated. (I sometimes use these shortcuts myself!)

Anime (and well done)
If by rigidity, you mean low frame rates, long stares, repeated footage and objects in front of lips that suddenly don't have to be synched anymore, that's more a question of how much time and money was spent making the particular cartoon. Digi/pokemon/DBZ feel like the Hanna Barbera of Japan to me (from the few minutes I've seen of any of them, so maybe I'm way off). I guess someone over there figured you don't need to give kids anything particularly flashy to sell a couple of toys.

But yeah, love the flash movie! Where else have I heard King Slug's voice, though...

The other voice that might remind you of King Slug is Stitch from Disney's "Lilo and Stitch". I do him pretty well, and he's almost the same.

I would've liked to do King Slug's voice...
Can I do a voice for one or more of the other characters (who haven't appeared yet)? Perhaps one of those Smirky Dudes from the Pyramid of the Gnosticene Ancients?

Hmmm...
Well, I'll put this out there. If ANYONE wants to do a voice for the series, send me a .wav file of your voice to chris@screenhog.com. Try not to make the file over 300K.

Although I'm not looking for any voices for the smirky dudes, if you want to send your impression of King Slug, that would be very good, since all of the slugs pretty much have the same voice, and there will be some slug bit parts.

The reason I won't need voices for the smirky dudes is because I've never quite decided whether or not they have a mouth or just a white spot on their stomachs. I'd always thought it was just a white spot, but either way, it's safer if he just doesn't talk. And anyways, he doesn't really fit in the plan I have for the series.

By the way, I'll be putting up some new screenshots of the new episode fairly soon. They'll keep you wondering!
