episode of Ilsoap's Shadowlands series to avoid the bandwidth

I think I missed the reference to the movie "Signs", where was that
bit?
Wow, that was pretty quick, eh Ilsoap? At this rate, you
should have episode 4 out before Christmas! I can't wait!
Oh and I've spotted a plot inconsistency: the arachnut was
wrong, it wasn't his joke at all, it was the OTHER arachnut's joke! 
Anyone else notice the scuba gear?
Again, there was another Animaniacs reference, but perhaps
too subtle to be intentional(?). "That's 'YOUR MAJESTY', slave!"
reminds me of Yakko's "It'll be YOUR highness if you keep calling me
that!"

na'ah... the Signs reference i thought i caught was when King Lick
was going on about being crazy "i'm a crazy... slug... yeah..." that
was like in the movie Signs when the dad has to run around the side
of the house while yelling about how crazy he is. sounded similar to
me, anyway :-$
Signs was a pretty lousy movie in my opinion
anyway, so i don't blame you if the King Lick thing wasn't on
purpose :-)
either way, TMST, you're pretty good at imitating
the existing voices... were they all you??

Well. The ending made somebody cry? Thanks, Cybernetic! You're the
best audience member ever! I'm sure you had a good laugh when you
saw the ending credits though!
Hopefully Ilsoap won't be as cruel
as me in his next Shadowlands episode.
Extra
Goodies:
The ferris wheel at the end was a photo of Caroline Bay, Timaru (my
childhood town for 10 years).
The "secret escape tunnel" could be the secret passage out of Border
Village in Keen 4, which contains extra-life bottles, effectively
making that place an... Immortality Shrine!
The shooting star at the end goes BEHIND planet Gnosticus IV. This
is impossible, because shooting stars are seen when a meteoroid
enters a planet's atmosphere and burns up. For the shooting star to
go behind the planet, the planet must've been inside the atmosphere
of "the camera". But I'm sure the Trekkies got that one... 
Moral: Nukes are bad! If you see a nuke, leave it alone. Leave
destroying the world to those who are qualified to do so (i.e.
politicians).

Just so y'all know, I was just as surprised when I saw this on the
21st as you guys were. I got an e-mail about it that morning,
clicked on the link, and laughed my head off. TMST spoofed the
series really well (and yes, the voices were great, especially
Duke).
A couple of other notes:
- the Dopefish was
actually drawn by me. When TMST made Dopefission, he called out for
people to find new images of the Dopefish (among other things) so I
sent him that drawing. Quite kind of him to use it there
- the voice that TMST used for the Mimrock was the exact
type of voice I was planning on using for him when he actually had a
speaking part. How's that for a coincidence? (Hey, Sluggy, if you
want that voice part in the real Ep 3, you got it.)

Yeah, TMST might win it with this little faux Ep 3. But I'll assure
you guys that it's not the REAL episode 3.
By the way, that
music at the end - minus the piano - was a real song from 1975 by
Dr. Demento called "They're Coming To Take Me Away". I've heard the
entire song on vinyl record... it's pretty funny. The original song
can be found at www.funnybody.com/takemeaway.mp3
(and probably a lot of other places too, that's just the first one I
could find).

Alright, I'll upload some MP3s of the music when somebody can give
me a link to the files that I need to download to save WAV files as
MP3 instead. At the moment the files are only in WAV format, which
makes them ridiculously huge files.
As for the Funny Farm
music, I thought I would use that for King Lick's madness scene, but
when I realised that it had no "music" -as such- apart from a drum
beat, I took the opportunity to pull out the keyboard and play some
Keen tunes along with it.
So... no MIDI files, sorry. It was all
"recorded live", as it were.
Also, the music used when Duke Mushroom and Colonel(?)
Mimrock were escaping was the classic "Great Escape" movie theme
music.
Did you spot the origins of the opening music?
It
was basically the chords from the "pyramids" music in Keen IV (which
is entirely chords anyway), combined with the ominous 5/4 beat of
"Mars, the Bringer of War" which was also used as the music for the
last level of Keen V (the QED). Ten points if you got
that.
So... send me links to MP3 conversion files please!
Prefereably a plug-in for Cool Edit. (I've never been able to find
anything satisfactory, except for one program that just expired on
me recently.)

Ah sixths! i was thinking thirds, so I wasn't far off, just had the
order wrong! That's what you get using a guitar to figure these
things out. Guitar's a lot more portable (as I'm not living at home
right now) but it sounds different and such.
TMST, I've got
the first two parts and the second half of the first part in midi
form, but having trouble as I don't have a piano to work it out on

TMST, what about putting them in Ogg Vorbis format? Sounds better
than Mp3 or Wma in a smaller file size. Vorbis.com is the place for
it. It's not proprietary like the other popular codecs either.
Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net) would be a nice way to encode to
ogg. It's a freeware multitracked audio editor. Winamp and probably
windows media player can play ogg, so compatability probably isn't
much of an issue.

The other tunes are simple enough for you musically
inclined types to work out how to notate them, obviously. Just
remember - major 6ths. And then a minor iv chord instead of major

...that your piano accompaniment to this piece was based on Eat
Your Veggies and the Slug Village tune, and the Chasm of Chills
music, and then the Keen 5 'game over' music at the end -- fantastic

Drip 2 is the one I want to finish before starting on Ep 3 of
Shadowlands (which I still want to do). In Drips 2, the tall drip -
his name's Nasal - develops the hiccups, so the other two look in a
medical dictionary to try to cure him.
As for the Big
Cheese... that thing pretty much bombed. We weren't very organized
while we were making it, and it turned out to be too much work that
we were willing to do to go back and finish it. Some of the
animation was finished though... I'll conclude the Big Cheese series
by showing the animation that was completed.
And for the
record, I update once every week! OK, that's not a LOT, but I'm
working at doing more. (Thanks for visiting, by the way.)

Bahaha. I kind of accidentally turned Take Me Away into the
unofficial JimSoft anthem over the past few weeks... and on the
weekend we sort of blew up an amp as four of us drunkenly sang into
one mic at full volume to it (completely out of tune, wrong lyrics
and everything).
Got it all on video as well. One day it may show up at the
Insanitarium.
