Raiders of the Lost BWBMR Technical Manual
As some of the elder PCKF residents are aware, AR made a page a while back (a long while back) about the internal organs of the BWBMR. It still resides on Geocities' server, but has not been updated for a considerable period of time (since before Isis). It can currently be found here. However, since this is one of the more creative early artifacts of Keen fandom, I believe it should have a secure home. How long will geocities hold onto an inactive site?

Re: Raiders of the Lost BWBMR Technical Manual
I agree with you, RoboBlue. This is an excellent site, and should have a "secure home". This is the first time I have seen that webpage, and I think that it is simply marvelous, and I don't want it to go away.

As long as I'm around, it's safe, and probably a lot longer. And I don't see myself leaving anytime soon.

Flaose left, Thea was already gone, and chogall was going to be absent for six months, and eK almost never comes anyways, so they needed a new admin, and picked me.

Ah, that's pretty good site. Anyways - I've been thinking to archive some sites too, I could do this one too. Spare copy often isn't harmful. ;)

They only remenants of the original is this:

Unfortunately, all my attempts to recover the site including looking at archives have led me to pr0n sites. Don't go to the address the site is "supposedly" at.

I found thea's homepage, which seems to still be more or less intact. No sign of bloogology, though.

I don't think geocities will ever shut down an inactive site because you'll never know when it will come in handy.
I guess you can delete your own site on geocities if you really wanted to.

Oh, I was surprised that Xtra become an admin so soon. What with most of the admins are leaving, Xtra's a good choice. It's also hard to find a trustworthy member in the PCKF. You never know when somebody might decide to rebel. :mort

KeenRush is a good choice for admin too, but he might take that opportunity to... spam the boards ;) you know what i'm talking about! :)

I don't think Geocities applies their deleting policy to older websites, the really old ones. Who knows though, would we dare to challenge fate!

It should be noted, for those that don't know, some of those websites are still active at least they were earlier this year. I believe the ones that were active are Keen Signs, the Distortions of Mr. Billy Blaze, and maybe Commander Keen Eternal.

Yeah. Too bad, I really wished to see it. Very nice picture xtra! And it's cool to browse around the mirrors..

I think it was, but not anymore..

And Unfleex, "so soon"? Xtra has been here quite a time already.. :)

Yeah. The same thing happened to me in the second to last time I checked it out. My sister was a member of PCKF for a short period of time, and on the previous board, she requested a page about Thea. For some unknown reason, someone on the board created a "Thea FanSite".

I've added CKNexus (in case it goes down, and the site it's on right now is horribly slow), and KeenVault (hope you don't mind KeenRush).

Not at all xtra, but could you tell me where you got it? :) And yeah, Nexus is one of the best sites, definitely worth of archiving!
Anyways, I think I have all the old Keen Vaults still on hard drive, I'll post screens about evolution of my Keen sites on the new page when it's done.. (Ok, ok, I will finish it when I have again some more time on my hands!)

I made a backup of CKNet right before it went down and then completely forgot about it. The other day when I was looking at this post I suddenly remembered it and decided to upload KeenVault.

KeenRush-- why would you still have all of the progressions of your site, yet have deleted mostly-done mods that looked excellent?

I see..
Ok.

Oh, and I think I got your point - that I haven't actually done anything and just say so? In case you think that (and I thought you do, because of you have often said about that thing), I gotta say you're totally wrong..
I really have done modding every week, but as said before I have stopped a lot of stuff - and almost all deleted. And besides, how do you know they were so excellent, my skills suck and badly.. :(
But in case you want some proves, I can send you some screenshots.. Though, how do I know do you believe it..

Hey Xtra, do you just want me to use the mirrors that you uploaded whenever I edit them? For the -ology and other mirrors I made I was going to upload them to a Keencyclopedia sub-directory but I can just use the ones you already uploaded.

I too backed up everything on CK.net before it went down :p

^ Yeah, agree! :) I feel much better now. And I'm really sorry.. Oh, and I will think twice for now on before deleting stuff!

By the way, I would like to see the really first Commander Keen Net start page. It's part of CK history, and if I remember correct it was second Keen site I ever saw in the web and it led me to this place and so on.. Ah..

Re: I saw wrong last time..
If you make a lot of mods, but are never completely able to finish them, why not make a collective mod? You could import graphics and levels from your other mods, and just use one storyline to connect them. It could be a little strange, but it's worth a try.

Yes, but it's not exactly the same since it doesn't scale with the browser window. Oh, and a few new sections have been added and the names of some sections changed.

Speaking of the old design, Marky came up with most of the sections for the newsletter webpage and their original names. Some of the ideas he threw out there helped the newsletter grow in the beginning.

An additional piece of information some people might not know is that the Newsletter was first hosted at Angelfire. At that time I believe we were using a slightly different design; all the buttons were represented by an image and we used an "image map" to define where the links were on that image. You can still see the html tags for the "image map" in the source, it's right below the menu. To find it look for, "This is in reserve out for now;."
