The first time I found the SGA in its full glory was in Keen6. And as soon as I did, I set about using it constantly ... this was ten years ago, so now I'm fluent. I noticed I was out of practice a bit when I came back to Keening, but it comes back pretty quickly.
I've been using the SGA dos font converter program whenever I use DOS, so hopefully one day I'll be able to look at the screen and just read it automatically, but at the moment it still requires gradual deciphering word-by-word.

The scary thing is that we're seriously considering relearning the alphabet in characters that have no actual application whatsoever, outside of a few random signs here and there in a twelve-year-old game.

It scares people. That's as good an application as any.
Hmm... one of these days I'm gonna put an SGA sign out the front of my house... gotta think of a worthwhile caption.
Too bad the forums don't support SGA. That'd be amusing. Hmm... *has idea*...

Now, if I could just incorporate that into a new forum somehow... *seriously considers...*

New plan! (My previous plan to create an SGA Conversations forum didn't work as I intended). Sign out the front of my house reading Beware of the Keen Fan... (if only it were that simple) something to the effect of:
Praecavere Devotus Imperatoris Acutum
(At least, if you've got the SGA2 TTF installed).
(I know an infinitesimal amount of the Latin language, so it probably doesn't make sense.) But, anyway...
Anyone know Latin?

I'm actually taking Latin I this year.  However, the only thing I can tell you about that so far is that you don't need 'the', but you probably already knew that.

Heh, you stole my idea!
I have been planning to make SGA signs, and place them all over this place (this area where I live, woods, streets), and try to get in to newspaper. (Ofcourse not me, but the mention about those odd alien signs!)
Oh, and take some pics of that sign if you can Jim! It would be nice to see what kind of sign you're making. (I thought Keen 4 styled.)

Sure, the SGA could have a useful purpose.
Let's be honest. There are very few fans of Commander Keen, and fewer that actually come to this board. But if we all wrote (or spray painted, or whatever) our names in SGA on a wall near where we live, it would be like a beacon of hope to fellow Keen-nerds!

But the best thing is, only few can read those, so all would be wondering "the mystery of odd stuff on wall".

Sounds like a plan... though it probably wouldn't be wise to attract such an image of vandalism to the SGA...

Barharhar. I can see it now... I just hope people don't start calling it Morse Code ... (my parents used to call it that when I was into writing random stuff in SGA). Crazy adults.

It's time for an SGA revival! I miss the days when I'd take notes in school using the SGA. Used to have signs using it in my house. Now if only I could speak it, my life would be complete.

we could associate different sounds with the letters. How about Cune for A, Mak for B, and so on.
