NY3: Brain Damage Released! (4TH TRY - SMALLER SPRITES)
Download it here:
Norp 3
Extract it into your Keen3 directory, it won't write over any files. READ THE README FILE BEFORE YOU PLAY IT!!! If you follow the instructions you should be able to run your Keen 3 by going to the exe, and run Norp 3 by going to the Norp batch file that corresponds to your version of Keen 3.

SUCCESS!
My sprites must have been too big, I guess the max for the size of EGASPRIT.CK* is about 13 kb over what the original was. I made some smaller so the file size was lowered 6 kb. It works on my 98 now, I hope it works on yours
I also fixed two bugs, one where the doors left stupid graphical bugs behind when you opened them, and also a major problem in the design of one level.
So, just redownload the file at the top (even if it did work for you before, because its an updated version) or click here: xtraverse.netfirms.com/norp3.zip

Did you read the instructions in the readme?
The reason you're getting "KEEN3.exe not found" is because you don't have a Keen 3 exe in the folder (it would've been illegal for me to include it). Follow the instructions in the readme and you should be fine (I hope).

Ok, I've done it again.
I have made three folders labeled 1, 2, and 3. Two vital files lie in each one of those folders, each subsequently smaller than the first. So, first copy the files in folder 1 into the base folder. If Norp runs for you without getting the error message "Out of memory! Try unloading your TSRs!" then you're lucky. If you do get that message, replace the files you just copied with the ones in folder 2. If that fails, try folder 3. If you still are getting that error message, contact me.

Yes we noticed.
Xtraverse I still go an error and I did excactly what was tolld in the readme fille. Can you or someone else just sent me your upacked mods (part II, and III)

I was too lazy to read the insturctions how to install the game.
About Norp III I followed the instructions on you HELP site but I still got errors in both Norp versions. Version gives the error: out of memory and what kind of error v.103 gives? I can't tell because it is in Dutch.

Just to make sure, you guys who can't get it to work, are you getting the error "Out of memory! Try unloading your TSRs!"?
If you get an error other than that, you didn't follow the instructions in the readme file correctly.
The memory problem is because my sprites were too big. Considering folder 2 works on the slower of my two computers, there's no real way for me to test the files, but I can make a folder 4 if you guys need.
I just really hate shrinking the sprites.

OK, I made a folder 4, redownload the zip. The downside is that with the sprites in folder 4, both the Hornicus and the Map RBC look squashed.
*Hopefully* these will work for all of you guys.

Just wondering, is folder 4 working for you people that had memory problems. The sprite file is only 6kb bigger than the one in the original Keen 3.
(Keen 3 seems picky about memory, my sprites in my Keen 2 mod were 13 kb bigger and no one got memory problems)

Forest, I have done every time just like the instructions tell me to do. And I have done that again, but no success. I wonder what the garg is wrong with my comp.
Well, if you ever have time Xtraverse, could you make a version that would replace the original Keen 3 files. People can take backups of their Keen 3 easily. Please!

My error.
Here's the exact error I get when I try to run the game on my Win XP pro computer:
The error box says 16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem at the top, and the actual error text below is:
C:\Windows\Systems32\cmd.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encounterd an illegal instruction.
CS:0001 IP:0067 OP:f0 37 05 0e 02 Choose 'close' to terminate the application.
Then you are given two choices either to ignore the error, which doesn't work, or close the program.
And yes, I did follow all the instructions in the readme.

Sorry Xtraverse, I was just running the wrong version, stupid me. I had the TSR error, but I couldn't see it because the program would close out right after I ran it, so I didn't think that was the version I had. Anyways to make a long story short I got it working using folder 3. Thanks, I'm gonna go try it out!

I finally got the mod working...
Very well-done; great graphics, great (and some very hard) levels. I like this mod.
Keenrush, have you tried with your Keen-O-Matic (I think you have one...?). I couldn't get it to work on my newer computer (it has Windows XP), but the mod worked fine on my old 486.
