Have no fear, fans of the Spork!
Yes, that's right, Slasher/Matrix is back in action, and this time he has fun little goodies! CHECK THIS OUT! It's the newest gameplay test of the Spork III system. Now, when you see this, the overwhelming urge to want to make love to me will take control, but I'm going to ask that you show as much restraint as possible. Unless your a woman. A hot woman. **AHEM**... Moving along..

This amazing new graphics set has CGI elements all pre rendered on my lightning quick 2.0 GHZ processor, as well as hand drawn sprites done by yours truly.

Much sweat and tears has been put into this, and I'm hoping that it will become the new standard for Keen fan games. My goal is for everyone to switch over from the 32X32 old school keen sprites to my new and beloved sprites contained within this gameplay sample of Spork III. HAVE FUN, ALL!

Hugs and Puppies,
Slasher

I can't download it, because it says the file doesn't exist.

I still love the sprites, but to get maximum love from me you have to make the platforms distiguishable from the background.

Very interesting.

I agree with Snaily about the platforms. You should change the background to a lighter or darker color so we can distinguish one part from another.

The Keen animations are neat, although I kinda think it's high hopes to say that they will become the new standard for unofficial Keen games.

Also, not to be a downer or anything, but 750 K for one small level? I don't know if I'd WANT to download the full game if the filesize is that big.

Still, it was really cool, I loved the laser, and I liked the circular platforms a lot. Good job.

Objects in computer screen may be closer than they appear.

You've got one of those things that people have every so often Ilsoap... What are they called...? Ah yes, you have a point.

Methinks that perhaps releasing the game in segments would do the trick... But than people could just skip ahead to the end... Dirty cheaters. Ah well, I suppose that this is the price to pay for having really big tiles.

About it becoming the unofficial keen game, I wasn't so much serious when I said that. However, the .gam file isn't protected, so if anyone wants to tweak things around, than by all means be my guest.

What did people think about the little purple monster? In case you're the type that rushes into everything or shoots creatures on sight, the purple monsters are actually quite peaceful until you get too close.

To answer Djaser's question, the story is still the same, but it's going to be told in comic book format. This will allow me to do fun things like put in comedic timing. The Spork series was supposed to be a comedy, but going back through Spork I and II I've realized that they really aren't all that funny. Hopefully Spork III will be whacky enough to tickle your funny bone.

Good to "see" some familiar faces again!

Corey

Same here. But at least Spork ain't dead!!! Yay! :D

So there's only one level, since I opened the game and saw, and found out why it's so huge. The size of the level is 3000 by 3000 when you just have this little space capsule thing in the corner that you play in.
So much unprogrammed extra excess being deleted could shrink down the file.

Good to see Spork alive. I can't wait for the full version!

I thought that potato thing in Spork II was funny, and destroying the big robot with a cup of java :foot

Anyway, were you inspired to do Keen cartoony and whacked by my new turn on Keen?(Day of the Alien)

EEK!
In the name of the Oracle, what have I done!? So terribly sorry, I've gone and frelled things up. The link I gave to everyone was actually an underdeveloped version of what I wanted to give people. All of you, download again and do enjoy. Don't worry, the file size is much smaller this time around. Well, no it's not... It's a little smaller.

ANYWAYS! Thanks moonsidian guy, I actually had never heard of your game before now. Rest assured that I've gone and d/l myself a copy of your demo. Must say, pretty engaging and humorous stuff. The scrolling in some parts was a little distracting, but it was bareable. I look forward to your full version.

Can you make the previous zip available again? I downloaded the update and it only had the .gam file... I need the executable as well (I accidentally overwrote the old file).

Okay, phew, hope things work out this time! Download from the link again, but unfortunately, since it's an application, file size has doubled. www.happyhamster.com/spor...meplay.zip

Now that I've finally had a chance to play it I have a few comments.

Firstly, it's better than I expected, better than the previous demo, but not much beyond what I'd expect from Slasher/Corey/etc.

Nevertheless, there's some problems with it. First of all, the entire world clashes with the keen sprite. He looks so different from everything else that it's strange looking. The blue guys also have this problem. They just don't fit together.

There's also not enough color variation. Most things are similarly colored, and, as others have pointed out, it makes it harder to decern the background from the foreground.

It's also not very keenish. Maybe the sprite is, but the world isn't.

INDEED!
Yes, well, all seem to be in a consensus with the backround tiles. Can't say that I blame you, thinking about it, my least favorite of the keen games were #2 and 5, if only for the bland repetitive tiles that came with them. I do promise that Keen will visit more exotic locations further in the game, and that I'll do my best to have some more distinguishable features between tiles in future releases. Thanks for your input, everyone that responded.

Am I missing something? Or is the demo just a small room with 3 enemies?

There should be a button somewhere that you can push by hitting enter (?). Hitting the button will open a door.

"Hitting the button will open the door." Ah, but it does much more than just opening the door! When you hit the button, a runaway rail-car-type-thingy is released, which crashes through the door. This is one reason I like the Sporks: cool extra widgets.

Yes, yes, cool extra widgets is the name of the game when it comes to the spork series. Some things you can look forward to in Spork III include submarine operating, mecha piloting, crane manipulating, and laser turret controlling. Plus there is, with no question, a jetpack sequence. That's right, it slices, dices and makes julian fries!

Actually, to be honest, I'm not really posting for any specific reason, just testing out my new sig.

Hugs and Puppies,
Corey
