Here we shall figure out once and for all whether or not Keen's pet Yorp is named Norp or Spot.

Here's my opinion: Just because Spot is on the yorp's dish does NOT necessarily mean that he is named Spot. For one thing, there are no spots on the yorp, so why would someone name him Spot? And another thing, even if Keen named him Spot, that does not mean that he didn't have a name BEFORE he became Keen's pet.

The name that I believe he had before he became Keen's pet was Norp (hey, it's a catchy name, so why not?). And I also like the idea that even though he's named Norp, Keen still calls him Spot, because it's very similar to everyone he meets calling him Captain Keen (even though we all very well know he is COMMANDER Keen).

Anyways, those are my thoughts. Please reply.

I've said it once, I'll say it again... :)

When Commander Keen was five, his dog, Spot, died. They never got around to throwing away his food dish, and when Commander Keen brought Norp home (or Norp brought himself home, as I may reveal later), Spot's food dish was the only avaiable thing to put Norp's delicious and nutritious Sugar Stoopies (with milk, of course).

This just sucks! His name is Spot and it will stay Spot and I will not budge unless you get Tom Hall to say that it is norp, stick to the hard fact’s don’t go and drag Keen into the ground and make up the universe your self. If you want to do something I say do it to ware it dose not affect the Keen universe. I will discard the name norp and just call him Spot because there is no reason to believe otherwise.

I don't think they actually gave him a name. It never actually said "Keen's pet [NORP, SPOT]." For all we know his name could be "hyksaphlyminactuvanitiosharpoklitart." :)

It's Spot, really. Billy was probably trying to give his parents something
normal to hold onto since they let him keep a one-eyed alien as a pet. :)

Who came up with Norp anyway..? Was it Thea?

Roses are red, violets are yellow, Commander Keen is a small little fellow.

Thank you Pimento!
Ummm… I think it was Neil, it was when he was making his Keen game he wanted a name for Keen’s Yorp. I told him that it was Spot but for some reason or another people just went with norp. I do not know whether this name was used before this because I have not been in this community more than a couple months.

I thought CrazyKeen came up with Norp. And I am glad this little name thing is over. I don't like the name Norp. And how do you people always contact Tom Hall? And actually get a reply?

Can his nickname be Norp?

I have nothing wrong with a nickname just as long as we know what’s what.

It's just that I've made my game on the basis that his name is Norp, and it would be a pain to change. I guess there is a possibility that Keen could have actually gotten another yorp. Or maybe there were Yorp babies! (Personally, I can't imagine a Yorp nursery, but there's always the possibility)

I have an idea...
Billy Blaze, when he hears trouble going on in the universe, donns his brother's football helmet and becomes... commander keen.
Spot, when he sees trouble going on in the universe, donns I have no idea what, and becomes Norp the Yorp.
Keen gave him the name because he thought that maybe one day Spot would go on a mission like keen does, and if his name was Spot people would think that he's just an ordinary pet.
So you could do that.

Hey, that's PERFECT!

In fact, that's good enough to deserve getting your name in the credits. Congrats!

OK, how's this? Spot, the mild-mannered one-eyed green thing, dons his... uh... invisible scarf to become NORP THE YORP, defender of all things edible!!!

Maybe Norp/Spot could also donn a football helmet, a tiny one that he made while Keen wasn't looking. You would just have to change the Norp/Spot sprite a bit...
