Rock Guitar Solos
Simple question: What are you 10 favorite rock guitar solos?

For me it's:
1. Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
2. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
3. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
4. Hotel California - The Eagles
5. November Rain - Guns n' Roses
6. Paranoid Android - Radiohead
7. Crazy Train - Ozzy Ozbourne
8. Hollow - Sun Caged
9. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
10. Money - Pink Floyd

The unknown future rolls towards us. I face it for the first time with a sense of hope. Because if a machine, a Terminator, can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too.

Nothing can beat Bohemian Rhapsody. Except, I think you're forgetting something...

11. Slither - Velvet Revolver

You obviously haven't experienced Freebird.

Re: Rock Guitar Solos
I couldn't make a real top ten because I know so many great solo's. Here are some of my favourites

Iron Maiden - Number of the beast
Judas Priest - Freewheel burning
Judas Priest - Turbo lover
Guns n'Roses - Sweet chil o'mine
AC/DC - Thunderstruck
Kiss - I was made for loving you
Iron Maiden - Children of the damned
Iced Earth - Valley forge
Iced Earth - Funeral
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven
Iron Maiden - Hallowed by thy name
Iron Maiden - Sign of the cross
Metallica - Ride the lightning
Metallica - from whom the bell tolls
Guns n'Roses - Paradise city
Guns n'Roses - November rain
Metallica - one
Iron Maiden - Rainmaker
Iron Maiden - To tame a land
Iron Maiden - Out of the silent planet
Judas Priest - Rock hard ride free
Iced Earth - Dante's inferno
Alice Cooper - Desperado

A good guitar solo can be short or long. At best they are in harmony with the song but there are also great guitar solo's in horrible songs.

I find it funny Xtraverse that there was a list with great rock solo's that featured almost the same songs you noted.

IMO the crazy train solo is overrated. It's decent but it misses something.

Well, I kinda like the solo in Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit,
but it's not THAT good.

Ah yeah I've seen that one. The only song that introduced me to was Comfortably numb.

Well some people would than say that you have a real good music taste. I don't know. Probably.:b

It suprised me that you like Ozzy's stuff. What do you think of his Black Sabbath years?

Re: Rock Guitar Solos
1. Satriani's "Always With Me, Always With You" is just one big long solo.

2. Maestro Alex Gregory's Penta Orchestra - "In the name of His Lords" is good, although it may be an electric mandolin. That counts, right?

3. "Eruption", by Focus, has quite a few good ones.

4 and one half. I'm running out of stuff, most of the stuff I listen to is either one long solo, or is completely lacking in solos.

4. Maybe Today - "Mary (Tomorrow Gone)" has a solo. And it's good!

5. Hey, so does, "Be Quiet, I'm Telling You My Secrets", by the same band.

5 and one half. Good grief, these titles sound like emo songs. They're not though, I swear! I only listen to emo when I'm in the mood to do some high-powered mockery.

6. Okay, I give up now.

7. But my enumerated list looks so short.

8. I wonder if adding a new entry for each pointless sentence, and inserting line breaks as needed, might help.

9. It seems to be working.

10. Too bad three out of five of those songs are pretty much impossible to get your hands on, and another one is hard to find.

EDIT: Good Lord, I forgot the closing comma to corral my parenthetical remark!

Is Eruption by Focus related in any way to Eruption by Eddie Van Halen?

Sorry, most of the stuff i listen to has solos, so making a top ten is kind of tricky, but ill try my hand at it. By the way, these are not at all the most insanely fast or anything, but there are ones that stick out to me as cool:

1. Dream Theater - The Glass Prison (super-sweet and insane)
2. Metallica - One
3. Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
4. Styx - Sweet Madame Blue
5. Eagles - Hotel California
6. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
7. Kalmah - Hollow Heart
8. Guns N Roses - November Rain
9. Nine Inch Nails - Ruiner
10. Dream Theater - Blind Faith

maybe then i'll fade away and i'll have to face the facts. its not easy facing up when you're whole world is black.

Nope, but it's about 23 minutes long.

Sweet. I gotta check that one out.

Djaser -- I actually have listened to very little Ozzy, I just happened to like Crazy Train a lot the first time I heard it.

Crazy Train is on the album Blizzards of Ozz with the legendaric guitarist Rhandy Rhoads(R.I.P.).
It's I shame I don't have the album but I recommend Ozzy's No more tears to you.
