A Quick Question About/Relating-To Vorticons.
If you could/would relate Vorticons to Earth creatures, would you see them more as blue, walking dogs?

Re: A Quick Question About/Relating-To Vorticons.
Well, when I was small and played Keen, I called them "dogs" or "blue dogs". They still look like dog to me, though the one between red vorticon and mom, (Vorticon Warrior Elite?) looks like some other animal, can't remember even its Finnish name.

Yeah, I used to call them "alien doggies" when I was small and played Keen.(first ep I ever played was ep3)
And I wonder, what inspired Adrian Carmack to draw up the Vorticons like they are now?

Vortipros. Ultrathongs. Intrapods.
I've never looked at the Vorticons with a comparison against Earth creatures in mind. I've always thought of them as something entirely different. Though I never realised Goofy was a dog when I was a kid. Strange.
It was quite irritating for the last few months of last year with all these JimSoft Commander Keen newbies asking me questions about the 'kangaroo things' and 'bouncing dog guys'.
Hmm... maybe whoever invented dogs on earth also created the Vorticons... 'mans best friend' could be a phrase hinting at this historical humanoid/canine combination... or perhaps the compatibility between the two species were the inspiration behind the invention of Vorticons...
Meh.

He is?
Anyways. Maybe some of them had a dog and so on.
Or maybe it wasn't meant to look like dog but they noticed after the game was released..

Goofy is a dingo.
And the Vorticons remind me of wolfs because of their claws. But perhaps they are more related to humans because they are civilizated.

I thought goofy was a horse.
The name vorticon doesn't really say "dog" when I read it. I played keen 4 first, and initially thought that the vorticons were like guys on star trek (ie, human with some makeup).

Do you think that Vorticons have blue fur, or blue skin?

Tempted to say fur, since things with claws, teeth, and noses like theirs are normally associated with furry animals.

re: Vorticons
Fur... definitely blue fur. I agree that they're somewhat lupine in appearance, but the rounded snouts (Keen3 endshot) make them much more friendly looking. I'd say they're closest to earth dogs as far as ears-and-snout go, but they're really their own creature. Just don't say "dog-like" to their face! ;-D
Bloogs, on the other hand... *shot*

Yeah, fur I would say too..
Seems that I have though even that (fur or skin) thing, but never actually noticed. But if now someone would come and ask what I think about orbatrix, I would say "blue skin".

I doubt that, though I think there are other vorticons we didn't see in Keen games. (For example younger females than vorticon mothers..)

Heh, when I first played Keen 2 I didn't realize that the Vorticon Elites were vorticons. I thought they were some other race with pink faces, blue ears and and a blue nose.
I always thought that the vorticons had blue skin, not a fur - take a look at that thumb in the ending of keen 3!

LOL, yeah, they kinda like something bear or something like that..
You're right about the thumb, it looks like skin. But I still think that it's fur - some short one.
Oh, and I really like that picture. Everything's fine again (for a while)..

Erm... right. Dingoes are sandy-coloured. Goofy is black. Anyway, I read a Disney book ages ago that said he was a dog. Don't know if I would have ever realised he was a dog otherwise, because he doesn't seem like a particular animal, I guess, he's just Goofy and that's it...
And I think of Vorticons as being wolflike.

You do get black mice...
And yes, dingoes are a type of dog, or more accurately a wolf (the dingo keeper at the wildlife park I visited last week was very insistent about that point).

Maybe but I've read somewhere that Disney was inspired by his own gray mouse. Anyway if you look at his old cartoons than you'll he painted all animals black: horses, cows, ect. Except for that duck of course.

Disney... Gimme Warner Bros. anyday! If not, a hefty dose of Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, or any other similar cartoon. I am also partial to anime.

Well, that's exactly the reason why I hate Walt Disney. Not exactly, but I reckon it's too cutesy for my tastes. I prefer stuff that has a little more 'attitude'.
Oh, before you crap on about my anime tastes, I must let you know that one of my favourites is Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040.
Moral of the story: If you can catch "Adult Swim" on Cartoon Network, then you've got some quality programming available.
Back on topic: To me, the Vorticons look more like a cross between dog and roo. Perhaps when Mort is finally defeated (in the Keen universe of course!) Commander Keen will reveal the Vorticons to the world.
Perhaps the Vorticons have the key to neverending peace? You never know...

Hmmm, that could make a nice mod anyways.
Never thought of that, but who knows, he could reveal vorticons to humans.. And not to mention other stuff..
But remember, Keen's on good side, and that means he is on every goods' side. He just doesn't take some vorticons and show them, unless they want to. And probably vorticons and other races Keen has seen know some things about us, because of their technology.
The point: Keen is equally on every good races' side. Humans are for him just one race in the group of billions and millions of universe..

well, if you likes animes like BubblegumCrisis, i've got nothing against that. I mean, I know they're good, but just not interested.
Ooh, so CN has adult animation too? Oh yeah... i think during the last one or two weeks of 2003, i saw an 'M' rated anime, but couldn't understand why. It was childishly naughty though. As in the characters were kinda flirting but I've seen worse on The Simpsons .

About the Vorticon IV map - Since planets are round, you're probally really seeing about three quarters to three fifths of the planets surface. (Not taking into account the possibility of an irregular shape or any of the contours of the planet of course.) As for the resemblence of Vorticons to any Earth fauna, I don't recall giving it any serious thought, but I'd say they look like a cross between a dog and a kangaroo.

I don't know. I think they probably look most like dogs, or maybe wolves... something along those lines. I think that (although it looks like skin) it could be fur as well. Or they could mostly have just skin, and have patches of fur, or something. Just because they have a furless finger doesn't mean they'd be completely furless, neccessarily
