speaking of that "unread topic" graphic--i'm assuming you're talking about what is currently the little fire sprite from Keen1? i only get that appearing on posts which have more than 30 replies in them... :-\
is there a seperate icon for completely unread posts?

This is the unread topic icon: 
You can click the link called "Mark Forum Read" at the top of a forum listing. This will mark the current forum as read i.e. remove all "unread" icons from that forum. The next time you visit the board, only topics that have been changed since you did that will show that icon. If you wish to mark the entire board as read, there's a link "Mark ALL forums read" on the main board page.
The flames-from-Keen-1 image is the "hot topic" image, which indicates topics with at least 30 replies.
The reason I asked TMST about a new "unread topic" icon is that the current one looks like Keen is being brutally tortured or something.
