HangKeen is done!!
It's finished! The program is flawless (unless someone can point out a flaw), the images are superb, and the possibilities are near the hundreds! Please, check it out and e-mail me with your comments!

A big round of applause to TMST for the images!!

It doesn’t work for me, to the degree that it only loads the first pic but goes blank after that. Also if any of you get stuck the answers are in the source.

What could be wrong? Do I have too old browser or have you uploaded all files to your site or is that something Tripod stuff? Try to fix bugs if you can, I would love to play it! :)

That is very keen. (I died the first time. I've never heard of Three Tooth Gum before... Guess I should read the game background more carefully! :) )

BTW, people, visit the TMST homepage - I've added a "Chasm" to my TMSTland contents. Now you can get directly to the Chasm of Strife from the TMST homepage. (And it has an animation when you hold the mouse over it, of course!)

Now it works! And it's good too!
By the way, will this Geocities be now the new host of Korath III? Just that I can update CKV link sections..

And to TMST: :lol !!

How is it easy to cheat? I couldn't think of a way to do it - do you mean look in the source?

And yes, Geocities will be the new host for Korath III. I find it's just more user friendly than tripod. Thanks for thinking of that.

Thanks everybody! If you have any more ideas for javascript Keen games or programs, let me know!

Ok.. I actually just thought that I could tell you idea for the new javascript stuff! :)
You could make somekind of "virtual bounder pet". Virtual pet game where you have to feed and etc. a pet bounder (it's that red and friendly thing from Keen 4). I would make my own with Visual Basic but I don't, because I don't have time and I think it's too simple stuff to make exe. :)
You can think this stuff..

hmmm...
A virtual bounder is an intruguing idea, but it wouldn't be very practical in JavaScript. As soon as you'd close your browser, all that you'd strived for would be lost. It could be done, but it wouldn't be logical. Thanks anyway.

Anyone else? Ideas? Or can someone make the virtual Bounder idea worth having all your points amount to nothing in the end?

I actually really like the Virtual Bounder idea.

(Edited because I accidentally spelled browser "rowser" the first time)

I don't understand why. I'll try preloading the images. Maybe that'll help. Because by all accounts it should work.
Since I don't have the problem I'll fix it now and you can tell me if it works.

You could save information about the virtual bounder in a cookie, so the info wouldn't be lost.

After I get one right, and try again, the last letter I picked from the round before is automatically picked again. It messed me up a couple times, like picking F last, then having it start out saying I guessed F and got it wrong.

Re: hmmm...
I've encountered that problem, too. It's because when there aren't anymore "?" in the answer box, it calls on the end function and then restarts the play() function. but it still continues the last set of commands from the previous round, like a letter that wasn't necessary to finish the answer. that's why it's a good idea only to use the multiple letters once you know the answer, and then only put the lettes you need and no more. I guess icould try to fix the problem, but for now, just don't put in extra letters.

I've just made some changes to HangKeen - seems like the Geocities banner sometimes interferes with the changing picture - it now calls the image by a name instead of a number - I'm not sure how IE will take it. Tell me if it works.
Of course, nobody will really be reading these posts for a while in light of the Commander Keen Awards.

Uh, cancel that. Sometimes, for some unknown reason, a "U" slips into the next round. I don't know why.

But other than that, it works great!!

UPDATE
HangKeen has a new look! And I got rid of the box that had the "You didn't make it past HangKeen. Try Again - Exit to Korath III" - it was messing with the fluidity of the program.

But of course nobody even KNOWS that any changes were made at ALL because nobody CHECKED. am I right?!!

I don't blame you. What with the Keen Awards 2002 coming up. But still, please check out this update. I think it's pretty neat.

That javascript box that you said you removed... it's still there when I play it. And yeah, it does kinda mess with the fluidity. But it's still a good game.

That is really weird. .......Are you accessing it from tripod?!! No, that can't be - I didn't make the changes to that one. Hmmm.... well, I really don'y know - try reloading the page or something, it should NOT be behaving like that.

About the virtual bounder - anyone have any suggestions? The main factors are food, sleep, helath and hapiness. When it's done each bounder will have a favorite food and a food they're alergic to, a favorite sport and a sport they refuse to play, etc. play will increase hapiness but increase tiredness. Healthy but nasty foods will increase health but decrease hapiness. Etc. etc.
Any suggestions?

Re: UPDATE
You could make that sometimes when the hapiness is low, it would be very randomly that bounder eats, even the food it likes.

You DO mean the image popup with the "You didn't make it past<br>HangKeen</br><outline>Try Again</uotline><br>Exit to Korath III"

Or do you mean the Javascript popup that asks you if you want to play again?

Where are you accessing the file from? Are you sure it's www.geocities.com/korathiii/hk2.html ?

That's all I can think of! Hope it works!

By the way, 51 keywords and phrases have been added to the program.

edited to mention extra keywords

Re: UPDATE
It's not an image pop-up, just the javascript one.

I guess what ruins the flow is the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. I'm so used to pressing cancel to get rid of a window, that I automatically press Cancel when it comes up, even though OK is the one that continues the game.

Well, you got your wish.
The program will no longer ask wether you want to play again or exit with the Javascript window. All that'll happen is a message will appear in the box with a message.

Also added is a box that keeps track of your wins and losses. Now the program will record how many rounds you've won and lost in one sitting. Try it!

To whoever reads this - PLEASE vote on the Keen Awards for this program. Unless you feel that Disco Keen is better, in which case I'd prefer you didn't, but you can.
PLEASE. The score is 9 to 8 in Disco Keen's favor. PLEASE vote. Please.
