The uses of current PC technology...
Found on rec.music.filk, in a Dec 2001 posting:
MIPS to the World
(ttto: Joy to the World)
Joy to the world, FedEx has come
(our system for to bring)
With dual Athlon processors
Both running at two gigahertz
(just slightly overclocked)
My, oh my they do get hot
We can heat our apartment with our new PC
We rule the world with our PC
(we render it ourselves)
Twenty million polygons
Hardware acceleration
Virtual reality
And seismic-feedback keys
Real life seems quite lame next to our new PC
It's everything we could ever want
(at least until next year)
A million times more powerful
Than mainframes seven years ago
So we play Commander Keen
On a thirty-two inch screen
On a system that's overkill for missions to the moon
Music Traditional

Re: LOL
It seems odd that such a popular game doesn't recieve a sequel.

Yeah, what a hoot: astronauts went to the moon in a spacecraft running a 486!
Damn, if I hadn't chucked out my old 486 I could be sitting up there on the moon right now...

Keen turns up in the darnedest places
After seeing the reference to Keen in that filksong, I began hunting down other strange appearances of the young Galactic hero.
I could only find this mere coincidence: Micheal Keaton (aka Batman from "Batman" & "Batman Returns") was in a comedy called "Night Shift", playing a character called...
Bill "Billy Blaze" Blazejowski.
OOO!!! "This just in, id Software sues Hollywood for copyright infringement!"

*laugh*
it'd depend on the copyright dates, wouldn't it? also... Keen *IS* sorta wearing the GreenBay helmet, isn't he? there's a lot of potential lawsuits if you wanna get gritty about it...
