Is there a single universe?
I must ask a question. Sure, most of us base our fan games/stories on the 6 Keen episodes, but do you take in all the others too? I mean if, say, something big happens in another Keen fan game do we take that into account in our games? Or do they take place with about the same characters but in different universes?
If there are an infinite amount of universes (and Keens), there shall be a Keen Empire.
Tnx.

Re: Is there a single universe?
Well…..I don’t rightly know. But I personally try to make whatever I do fit; if there is say a dumb Keen fan game that nobody likes I will not regard the game in any form whatsoever; I would take my plot without consideration (not exactly true), but a good game like RKP-2 would not be left without consideration. Much to my pleaser, most, if not all I do, dose not come close to these things.
I always try to make something out of the small and very obscure things; as an example I just plopped the Martian king right down in the Keen Community Story; it was something obscure. And there is no reason to take a plain path in writing a story; why not warp Keen to an alternant universe, have a little fun, go and explore the endlessness of the universe. I am currently making a fan fic, where as you read you have no idea what is going on; the plot has already been laid and you seem to be put right in at the ending, then everything goes wrong, a whole new plot starts; what will Keen do next, there is no way to know. A story like that will not have any loops with other stories.
Quote: Is there a single universe?
I think there are three universes in existence; Heaven, Hell, and our own. These universes do not connect in anyway and cannot be traveled from one to thee other; they are separated by means impossible to explain.

Re: Is there a single universe?
According to quantum physics, there are multiple universes.
Take the experience of Schrödinger's Cat, for example:
A cat is placed in a closed box with a bead containing cyanide. The lid is put on, so that nobody can see anything. Most people would say that we don't know whether the cat has stepped on the bead yet, so that it is either dead or alive, but that we don't know. However, after the theories of quantum physics, the cat is both dead and alive at the same time. Another theory says that two universes are formed, one in which the cat is alive and one in which it is dead.

Re: Is there a single universe?
"What?! More than one Universe?" shrieks Mortimer.
Commander Keen nods sagely, folding up his chalkboard, now covered with quantum physics equations.
"Damn!" curses Mortimer, leaping to his feet and kicking over his hourglass. "Looks like this job of blowing up the entire Universe is going to be a waste of time!" So saying, he storms out of the Big-Bang-A-Tron(tm) Headquarters and marches onto the battlefield. "Hey everybody," yells Mortimer, grabbing the attention of the armies, who stop their fighting and turn to behold this strange Shikadi who looks like Mortimer McMire.
"You can all go home now, I just can't be bothered destroying your Universe any more."
The warriors look puzzled.
"I said GO HOME!"
The battlefield suddenly empties as everyone goes home.
"You did the right thing, Mortimer", congratulates Keen, sauntering off to his Bean-With-Bacon Megarocket. "Well, see you at school tomorrow."
With a whoosh, the Keen machine heads for Earth.
"Yessss... school tomorrow..." muses Mortimer, stroking his transparent, blue chin. "You fool, Mister Three-Fourteen! Tomorrow I'm going to BLOW UP THE ENTIRE SCHOOL! Yes! And Commander Keen will be destroyed along with it, and all those other mental wimps! Aha, ha ha!"
The next day, the school explodes.
"Aha!" laughs Mortimer. "Aha, ha h-"
"Hey Mortimer, destroyed any good Universes lately?" interrupts Keen.
"What?!" mortimer splutters. "How come you're not in school?"
"It's Saturday."
"Really? Oh no, that means..."
"That I fooled you, Mister Three-Fifteen. Yep. Looks like you, Mortimer McMire, were outsmarted by a mental wimp."
"Silence, mortal!"
"Three-Fifteen."
"Shut up."
"Three-Fifteen."
"BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH..."
"Three-Fifteen! Three-Fifteen! Three-Fifteen! Three-Fifteen..."
Of course, all this nonsense can happen and still be in a parallel Universe to what goes on in the CK web-comic at geocities.com/chasm_of_chills, right?

I myself don't count any of the fangames as having happened to keen, but you can do that if you want.

I don’t like any of them.
Here is my idea (I have changed the last theory to fit my personal opinion), "Another theory says that two possibilities are of probability, one in which the cat is alive and one in which it is dead. One is real and the other is an assumption of what might be in absence the correct answer; or sufficient information. We do not have any clear distinction to tell the two apart, so it is all just possibilities; and no hard facts. The only facts we do know are the ones within our current reality. But reality is defined by our perception of the universe, so individuals can make wrong hypothesis’s; and reality in betrayed because of ignorance. But how can ignorance be blamed? For the individual does not know what is real based upon his reality of the universe, so all matters of answers are assumed wrong until proven right, even though the real reality has already dictated within it’s limits of operation what is real." Long but I think it explains it sufficiently.

Re: Is there a single universe?
Well, quantum physics are usually applied to small particles like photons or quarks, so using it to study a cat will produce unexpected results.

Re: Is there a single universe?
Yeah; it’s only good in it’s small field. You step out of that field and Co-Pow! Your gone.
The field of the unknown and ill-rationale is a big one; it encompasses the whole universe! It will take people a long time to learn even the basics of how the universe works. We can always hypothesize though, but like Einstein, nobody is going to believe you unless you prove it; fact not idea, their idiots.
Sorry for saying idiots.

Re: Is there a single universe?
But what if WE are the proof? What if we are Schrödinger's Cat, trapped inside the box that is our Universe? We KNOW that's we're not dead, but the entities outside of our Universe don't know this. However, the Cat inside the box doesn't know if anybody outside is alive, or if they're all dead. My puny brain is overheating now. I'm going to play Keen 5.

Eh…what you say? Stop it, or I’ll eat you (I’m a cat in the box with you; lol!). ‘Meow!’

Re: Is there a single universe?
Echhh... listen to us, going on about Keen as if it was real, the same way that those Trekkies go on about Star Trek.
