Re: Commander Keen Web Comic!
That's a really nice comic! But (IMO) I think you should try to make Keen look just a bit more Keenish, he looks a bit weird in some frames, and I think you should drop the (whazz it cal'd..) thingy in the front of the helmet - the thingy that blocks his mouth. It's only shown in Keen 1-3, after that it was kinda destroyed wasnt it..? (Just look at the goodbye galaxy box etc.)
But, as I said its a great comic

Mouth Thingy
The mouth-protector thingy on the helmet. Yeah. \-:> I'm still kicking myself for drawing that. I've always drawn it so I subconsciously left it in when I made this. Too bad - now it's there to stay for the sake of consistency.
And although this episode is a bit too 'wordy', next time we get some ass-kickin' action! But whose ass?

It just-just-keeps on getting better!
I do have a problem with Keen saying God; this is purely your choice to make, but I am slightly offended by the statement.

Offended by someone saying God, or just the fact that it's Keen?

That comic is excellent. The way you've shown Mortimer's motivations is completly original, and presents a new, and believeable, aspect of his character. All in all, well done. I eagerly await the next episode.
Oh yeah. I didn't think the face guard looked odd. I thought it was rather cool actually.

I believe that God’s name should be treated with respect. So lest put this to the test. Was Keen directly talking to God? No. Was Keen thinking of God in reverent way? No. That means that Keen was slandering God’s name. He was using it in an in-vain gesture. He committed a sin according to the Bible. So weather it is better there or left out, its not my choice; we all go are own way.

Does Keen have a God?
I did wonder about the appropriateness of Keen thinking "God", but then I left it in, for shock value. And by "shock", I mean "shock", as in "that's not what you'd expect in Commander Keen", rather than "that's offensive to my religion". This comic is meant to be over-dramatic (although it does have its humorous moments). But beware! Bigger, even more genre-shattering shocks-value surprises are to come!
ANYway, the next exciting episode is ready for y'all, so snap on your brothers' football helmets, grit your teeth and tune your photacychon transceivers to the usual URL:

Mortimer's Version
Oh, and speaking of shocking stuff, irreverence and blasphemy, check out my OTHER web comic - "Goodbye, Cruel World!" At this point in the storyline, one of the characters' house had crash-landed on Mars as the result of a so-called "Act Of God". So I thought, what the heck - might as well make a reference to Commander Keen Episode I.

Well, I just realized something freaky. The mouth-protector thingie is in all of the sprites (K D-6)! It's just in isometric view, so you can't see it against the background; and because of the 16color limit and sprite size limit, it was too hard to make actually show up. But it's there—ever wonder why Keen doesn't have a mouth? (I realized this in Keen Dreams when I pressed space... presto, a helmet with thingie! When I unpaused, I looked at him and realized that that must not be his face.)
That said, why on earth is there no mouth-thingie in the intro-screen pic? Some poor people are confused. Am I one of them?

He's right
I always thought that was just the shadow under his chin, but on closer inpection, he is wearing a mouth guard...

Hmm... no
i'm going to have to vote against the shading-is-a-mouthguard thing. here's my reasons:
1) the look down animation: as Keen looks down, we can clearly see his lil pug nose extending beyond the forehead pane of the helmet. most mouthguards on football helmets extend beyond the forehead pane as well... no dice there.
2) the look up animation: if that shading is really a mouthguard, how come it stays way the heck down there when the football helmet is tilted 45 degrees upward?
3) the death animations! "ever wonder why Keen doesn't have a mouth?" ... check 'em out, man. wide open one one, scrunched into a painful "ooh" on the other. no mouthguard there, unless it's been bashed off by the death O_o
4) the "knockdown" frame (Keen6) ... the shading of his chin doesn't extend across the entire front of his face--see on the right, where his mouth is, there's no "mouthguard" ...
those are my reasons. though, so as not to rain on the whole party, do a Sprite Test (F10+T) in Keen6, and check out chunk 114 (firing down off a pole whilst facing the screen)... i have to admit that does look very mouthguardish.
anyway, just wanted to spark things up here ;-) yell at me all you like

The Next Comic
When Keen is riding a platform (Ep V) you get a good front-on view of his face. No face-protector-thingy. And the intro screens nail the lid on that particular coffin.
But anyway, I'm here to announce the next thrilling episode of The Universe Is Toast. However, I'm warning you: it might pay to have a box of tissues handy - it's a bit of a tear-jerker. )-...:
