Origin of Gnosticene Ancients
Hey, I stumbled across an old arcade game the other day called Naughty Boy. Something in the demo caught my eye, it resembled the Gnosticene Ancient.
Check it out here:www.geocities.com/KeenKoncepts/gfx/nboy_ga.gif.
Does anyone know if this game had anything to do with those crazy guys from Keen 4?

Nooo....
Why does everyone call them Gnosticene Ancients?!? They're called "Treasure Eaters!!" Well, I guess if I actually had the Keencyclopedia up that would help. Anyways, they do look remarkably like them except for a different color. I can't say because I have never before heard of a game called "Naughty Boy."

Re: Nooo....
Gnosticine Ancients are the dudes with red robes and white beards.
Oh, and pretty nice spot there! They really look same, though the colour is different. Well, who knows where they got their ideas..

Re: Nooo....
Council Member: These are the Gnosticenes you are trying to rescue. There are eight of them hidden in the depths of the Shadowlands.
That's a direct quote from the game (speaking of the guys in red robes). I think it's safe to call the fish-like creatures that steal candy (and diamonds), Gnosticene Ancients as they're only in the level called "Pyramid of the Gnosticene Ancients" Besides it doesn't sound half as lame as "Treasure Eaters"

Re: Origin of Gnosticene Ancients
Gnosticene Ancients are the council members. "Gnosticene Ancient" means something old that comes from Gnosticus IV.
Those smirky guys are an example of the creatures in Keen that do not have an official name because of their reduced importance. "Treasure Eater" is obviously some working title for the game team. Another example is the dudes on Korath III, which have no official name but are called "Scotties" by the developers. Interestingly, these creatures were also wrongly named by fans as "Goplats".

Treasure Eaters... I did not know that.
It makes sense, but they should have a better name. Those guys are cool!
(Of course, I also thought "goplat" was cooler than "scotty"... oh well.)

Re: Origin of Gnosticene Ancients
Meh, you should have looked at the Keencyclopedia closer when it was up. I mentioned a few times that I e-mailed Tom Hall asking the name of the creature commonly refered to as the "Gnosticene Ancient" that's red, and only lives in that pyramid which I forget the name to off the top of my head. He wrote me back with a simple sentence which I believe was:
"They're called Treasure Eaters, they steal treasure : ) "
And that was that.

Re: Origin of Gnosticene Ancients
I don't think "Scotty" fits in either. But a goplat is a moving platform that moves along a path (a "Go Plat").
