stickmanofdoom Grunt Posts: 27 (8/21/03 12:53 am) Reply	stoner trees? my brothers friend was over a couple days ago and was watching me play keen4. i started slug village and he said,"whats up with the trees? it looks like they're stoned!" after taking a second look at them i realized that they DID look stoned!

I mean seriously... bouncing red thingies? Slugs that piss constantly, I dont know what Arachnuts are on, Yorps are constantly happy, Dopefish... no comment, Gargs... must be havin one of those weird food cravings... Vorticons (distortions of the neighbor's scary dog)... hm... mabye Billy needs to see a therapist. Seriously though, the keen series does seem like a weird dream/ hallucination. I mean, the school bully trying to destroy the universe? It's every kid's worst nightmare. If you think about it, Commander Keen is like the lost hope of every kid who's ever been bullied! I heard somewhere about a procedure where they extract the chemicals and put them in an edible form. However, the chemical is much stronger then, and will probably cause you significant bodily harm. I think I got a bit passively stoned--I remember passing out suddenly walking about the house in the middle of the night... anyway, the point of the story is: the next morning we somehow managed to get into this exact conversation--the fact that Mario Bros., when you really look at it, is basically about a bunch of junkies. As the conversation went on, we suddenly had a brilliant idea for a game: Mullio Bros., where the basic object of the game is to run around collecting various 'substances' and keep yourself stoned/intoxicated (ie. keeping a 'Stoned/Intoxicated-Meter' from reaching zero). Anyway, I never went ahead with it, due to the whole 'Drugs are Bad' thing and all (though it gave me a few ideas for other games). Maybe one day, when people aren't so impressionable as to attempt to copy the actions of 16x16 pixel sprites (I know one person who seems to have been subliminally influenced somewhere along the line by Keen... made himself a pogo, has a tendency to find himself running around at out-of-scale heights--along rooftops, trees, rafters, etc... hmm... doesn't wear a helmet, though... maybe it more Pogo Joe...) (For the record I don't do drugs--I just know a lot of people who do. And seeing what it's done to some of the people I know, I think there's very little chance of me taking it up in the future...) Anyway... it's amusing to suddenly see a similar interpretation of Keen. Enjoy, >CommanderSpleen
