Possible plot for "Universe Is Toast"
I'm going out on a limb a bit here, but no one's ever mentioned this before:

Fact 1: At the end of Keen 5, we find out that there was going to be a Keen game entitled "The Universe Is Toast".

Fact 2: At the end of Keen 6, Molly states that Mortimer bribed the Bloogs to kidnap her by telling them where to find the Stupendous Sandwich of Chungella IV.

Sandwiches are often made with toast instead of just plain bread. Since we aren't given any other information about this Chungella IV place, it's possible that this was a small clue about where the Universe is TOAST series would take place.

Any thoughts about this?

Objects in computer screen may be closer than they appear.

So, Chungella IV is somekind of planet? Would Stupendous Sandwich be somekind of object, what Keen have to steal from/take before Mortimer McMire? Or would it be somekind of gun like that in Keen 2?

And where you guys have read that there would be somekind of zoo level in "The Universe is Toast" where are enemies from other Keens?

Who ever needs Doom 3, we have Keen 6.

Actually, the name of the game is never announced. It just says there will be a new Commander Keen game. Tom Hall later revealed that they were planning to call it "The Universe Is Toast".

So, is Commander Keen 6 made before Commander Keen 5, but released later? :confused

Wasn't the stupendous sandwich that sandwich you gave to the Grabbiter? As that sandwich is the second largest sandwich he ever saw, then the stupendous sandwich must be the largest sandwich?

How the Stupendous Sandwich can be the largest sandwich, if you gave to the Grabbiter second largest sandwich you have ever seen (Stupendous Sandwich)?
Or is there something wrong in your post? :)

Added a little bit later: I actually had in my mind that would that second biggest sandwich have something to do with Stupendous Sandwich.. What stupendous mean, or it is even word?

Who ever needs Doom 3, we have Keen 6.

Now when I know what stupendous means, I can say, that this plot is very great!

Hmmm.. Do we know anything else than this time Mort tries to destroy universe? Maybe he tries to feed something very big Grabbiter with it?

When Keen finds the sandwich in Bloogfoods Inc., he says "That's the second biggest sandwich I ever saw!". Obviously, this is a reference to the Stupendous sandwich of Chungella IV, which is the biggest sandwich he ever saw. Thus, the Grabbiter sandwich is inferior to the Stupendous sandwich.

I would have thought that the sandwich in Bloogfoods Inc. *is* the Stupendous Sandwich of Chungella IV; the Bloogs (after being bribed with it) kept it in their factory.

Perhaps Mortimer tricked the bloogs into the wrong sandwich. Those bloogs are so hungry they'll eat a regular sandwich and get told that it's the stupendous one. ( Bloogs are stupid )

See you Christmas '92 when Commander Keen returns to battle for the universe! It'll be the biggest Keen ever! You won't believe your eyes!

Re: Possible plot for "Universe Is Toast"
I always thought that the Stupendous Sandwich of Chungella IV being Second Biggest Sandwich Keen had ever seen was *another* inside reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Though it's been a while since I read the series, I'm pretty sure that Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect encountered the Largest Sandwich in the Galaxy some point during their adventures (maybe in Mostly Harmless).

So I guess the only questions right now are,

1 - Is the sandwich in Keen6 the "Stupendous Sandwich"?
2 - If the sandwich is not the "Stupendous Sandwich," did Mort, trick the Bloogs, with a fake?
2 - How this related to "The Universe is Toast"?

And for miscellaneous reasons, this page is interesting,

Wow. I never expected this many posts about a sandwich. :)

Tom didn't deny it... and the chances are pretty good that a planet wouldn't be mentioned only once in the series and then forgotten about.

Ah well. In a week this whole idea will either fade into the dust or else be turned into the plot for someone else's fan game. :)

Another idea:

The a la Star Wars parts of Keen 6 said:

"His babysitter Molly calls him for supper. He continues working on his new Computer Wrist.

Any ideas about an improved one for Keen 7-9?

I prefer to leave little mistakes like that in, since their funny. And what I did miss was your post, yep -- didn’t see it till today.

About this possible plot, I suggest we leave it alone; since we don’t want to spoil any of the surprises Tom, has for us! :)

I would agree that it is possible that keen meant that the biggest sandwich he ever saw was the Stupendous one, although we must admit that there could be no connection.

As to how a sandwich could destroy a universe, perhaps, the Stupendous Sandwich could be a sandwich of such a superb taste and quality that any who see it would be driven mad by an insane attack of gluttony. Perhaps, transporting this sandwich from planet to planet would render insane the entier population of the universe in question.

A farfetched idea, I'll admit. :)

I thought everyone here was sci-fi fans, but I guess not. I sometime watch Twilight Zone whle I eat lunch because soap operas and Blue's Clues are the only other things on. The sandwich in Bloogfoods has a book by it that reads "To Serve Man." This is a reference to probably the most popular and thigh episode of the Twilight Zone, where aliens come and help us and the government steals a copy of a book the aliens always carry. They translate the cover and it says To Serve Man and so everyone is happy, but after thousands of people are taken to the alien's homeplanet, the episode ended with someone translating the first page and then yelling to everyone "Its a cookbook! Its a cookbook!" There is no meat in the sandwich in Bloogfoods either, so perhaps Mortimer would like to turn us into toast for his sandwich? Yummy!
