Keen Chronicles
Who remembers back when Keen Game Boy was a rumor, and we first found real hope in it because it was up for pre-ordering on Chipsbits.com? Well, I was on there today and was going to buy it (but then went to amazon.com because it was cheaper), and guess what I found? A game called "Keen Chronicles?" What could it be? It is due for release in 3/02, which would be this month. I'm guessing that the date is wrong, but more importantly, could this be the new Keen? I will e-mail them and see if they know. Monkeystones has been hinting at it, so maybe it is finally coming. But do not hold your breath. And if you do, don't hold it for more than two minutes or you will risk passing out.

Interesting... Does Chips and Bits say who was making it? And it's for the PC I take it? Anyway, It would be pretty cool if it was an actual NEW Keen game by MonkeyStone. Just have to wait and see I guess. I've heard nothing of it though, but hopefully It'll be Keen.

Actually, I just checked Chips and Bits out. It calls the title "Keen Chronicles CD", so I assume it's for the PC. The genre is "Adventure", and it's about $29.95

According to Softek International's (the publisher, according to the amazon page) web site, they have "a direct relationship" with, among others, MonkeyStone... 
Apparently the PocketPC version of Keen Chronicles is due to be released on 1st April, and the PC (Windows) version on the 15th...

I like the fact that Monkey Stone and id Software are partners, it serves as the best piece of evidence that there’s going to be a new Keen game; but there is little certainty.

Somehow I feel bad because I have to be a wet blanket. But methinks that perhaps it may just be a re-release of the old games under one label.

I read the advertisement throroughly. Well, i'm as thrilled as the rest of you , but there's no "Commander" mentioned anywhere. if it is.. i'd hate to say that if it has been created without the magic touch of John and Tom.. the wait lives on.

It has been over a day since I e-mailed Chips & Bits (they said they will reply within a day), so I will probably not get a reply. Someone could e-mail Softek if they really feel motivated to, although I don't think it will be too hard to sit and wait two days to see what the game is.
I believe that Game Boy Keen sold real bad. I never saw it at any stores, so it must have bombed. Why would id want to release another crappy Keen designed entirely by a third party? If I remember correctly, Game Boy Keen was originally going to be a remake of Keen 1. Maybe they decided to make a unique Game Boy Keen, and then remake the series instead for that palm thing and the PC? After all, Keen doesn't run very well on new computers, and it is not near as fun as it used to be. I think that Keen Chronicles is a souped up version of all the Keen Games. After all, with a name like "Chronicles," doesn't that seem reasonable? Why the hell else wouldn't it be called "The Universe is Toast?"

Yeah, i already mailed Softek earlier today, doubting that their web office will answer during weekend. But i can assure you that this is least likely to be a Commander Keen game, mostly due to reasons that I Am Keen just mentioned.
Although, one thing i didn't take in account. there appears to be a PocketPC release of the same thing on the list.. which is sort of a strong proof that there is something going on with Keen. I don't know.. this is confusing. Why wouldn't they inform about such a project? or is it just a collection of the old official keen-games?

But Keen mania came to a screeching halt,
As ideas for Keen 7 got littler.
For a decade,Keen sat idle,
at iD Software.
While we waited patiently
for The Universe is Toast with care.
Then in the year 2001,
they made a Game Boy game.
It sparked some resemblance to the old Keen
but it didn't have a sub-name.
Now in 2002,we found a "Keen Chronicles"
But was it made by iD?
Could this be Keen at last?
We'll have to wait and see.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a retro-game? Does that just mean it is an old style game? It si too bad that this is not what we hoped for. Sorry for getting everyone's hopes up like that. But what is still weird about it is that on Chips&Bits it says that it was released in March and is out of stock (probably a computer glitch) and on that stopsign website (Forge posted the link to it), you can actually order it, and not as a pre-order. I wonder what you would get if you ordered it.

Well that page has changed since I posted the link -- before it said that the CD contained Invasion of the Vorticons, Goodbye Galaxy, Aliens Ate My Babysitter, and Keen Dreams.
However, I've also emailed Todd Hollenshead of ID software, and he said they had nothing to do with it. So I don't think it's for real.

I didn't want to bring this to mind when it seemed like we had a chance of new Keen,but now that it's different,I have a theory.
If you go to the Softek website,they have a guy working their with Dave Keen which means it could be something else.
But it's highly unlikely because he has warehouse manager as a job.
Who's ordered it yet?I'm afraid to order something with no picture explaining what it is...
