The most scary Keen level and why?
I would say, Bloog Control Center.. There is odd eyes, odd hands, lot's of stuff what can kill Keen and that evil sounding music..

Yes
It's hard to call a single level scary... the end levels of all the Keen games that have end levels have a certain fear to them (not knowing where the Shikadi Master will pop up, seeing just how big Boobus Tuber is, etc.)

Objects in computer screen may be closer than they appear.

Re: Yes
Yeah, the level with Molly. It's so deserted, especially after taking on all those uncharacteristically full-on levels in Keen VI. It's spooky. Eerily quiet. Chillingly empty.

:rollin
...whoooshh.... (tumbleweed)

And then you find the correct sequence into the purple/red zone again and everything attacks you with a vengeance!

The "Too Much Spare Time" Network. Something funny every few days. Or Else.

Re: Yes
The BloogBase is definitely the most creepy; for me the level which held the most freak-out scariness was the one in Keen 3 with all the VortiNinjas (Cape Canavorta? I disremember).
With all those guys jumping around, it got pretty tense at times.

Heh...
Xkylyr has a long-standing fear of deep water, and the resulting sea life that results from such water. I honestly cannot play games like Mario 64's Jolly Roger Bay or Dire Dire Docks, or most first-person shooters like Duke Nukem 3d, Half-Life, etc, just because they all feature freaky underwater areas and enemies. This being said, the scariest level for me was the Well of Wishes in Keen 4... and the enemy Xky hates the most? the Dopefish *shudder* sounds childish, i know, but i swear to you, i could NOT do that level--i always had to ask my brother to do it for me :-( i still jump every time i see that blasted fish...

Wow
Wow, a fear of the dopefish, that is very different. :)

I think the level with Molly was pretty scary at times too.

When I was younger the pyramids scared me a little bit. It seemed so dry and those things in the wall shooting the darts always made me jump.

I can believe you about the dopefish... it took awhile for me to be able to figure out the technique around wormmouths too...

Darn, if there were a level of giant realistic spiders, I would freak out every second, Even in god mode...Whoo, after reading this thread someone would probably make one, just to freak me out (stories make me that infamous). Luckily, ID hasn't a spider level yet....pant pant

I always loved wormmouths, even when I couldn't get past them and they killed me. BTW, Ilsoap's wormmouth in his cartoon was excellent!

Re: Wormmouths and Dopefish
Wormmouths are definitely cool :-) it's like "oh its so cute" and then POW you're gone... oh, and KeenEmpire, about your spider thing... believe me, my friends have made PLENTY of levels involving deep, dark water and the resulting evils down below, just to scare me. they'll ask me to play-test a level for them, say its a Half-Life level... i'll run thru the initial rooms, hop into a duct to crawl thru. next thing you know, the duct collapses under my weight and sends me plunging quite deep into a pit of water, surrounded by bloodthirsty Icthysaurs (not sure if i spelled that correctly)... but yeah. Feel lucky that there's been no big spider enemies in any FPS's yet :-) but on the topic of spiders--what's your thoughts on the... *opens Keen4, hits F1, reads name* the Arachnut? he's kinda spider-like :-) and you sure as heck can't kill him... just stun him. eek!

Re: Wormmouths and Dopefish
Gonarch was the gayest monster in a video game. I mean, just look at it. When I first saw it I was disgusted, and when it squirted me, I was disgusted more but then it was funny. There are no scary levels in Keen, because Doom was the first scary game (don't give me that text adventure crap. Text is not scary). And as for spiders, watch Alien. Those facehuggers are just like spiders and they're squeal and coil around your neck. It's great man. And my book I am writing is the best with evil spiders. They are even satanic, and one of the characters has a hateful, slighty erotic attraction to them.

Oh my giddy aunt!

Turok 2, but stopped playingn that :)

The Arachnut isn't that scary, didn't even know it was a spider until I read the info. The real spiders that scare me are those with only a tiny body and giant long legs UHGGG, and moves superfast (notes for whoever wants to make a game containing the purpose of scaring me :D ), oh and while its moving some legs cross the others, as in back legs go in front of front ones...sorry it'll be harder to program, just my fears

Wormmouth, one death and then I was scared to approach them.

Still is a spider thing, though. And I don't see the gay part.

Scary Series
-Invasion of the Vorticons-
I thought the Castle of the Grand Intellect was the scariest level. But the scariest event would be hitting
a Tantalus Ray and watching the world blow up! :mort2

-Lost Series-
It would have to be Grape Grove. Those grapes are
scarrrrrry!!Did you know grapes are in a vegetable
land of Tuberia?That's weird...

-Goodbye Galaxy!-
It would be a close race between swimming away from
the Dopefish and getting to the 8th Gnosticene Ancient
in time :dopefish ,and accidentally killing yourself at the QED and
forgetting to save.Arrrrgh!

-Aliens Ate My Babysitter!-
Bloog Control Center by far.Eerie music, black background,
everything's looking at you,in the first hall the floor's on
fire for crying out loud!

-Game Boy Adventures-
Nothing in this is scary. If I run across anything scary,
I turn it off. :D

The scariest event in Keen history is hearing Keen getting
kanceled. :sick

I never found any level scary. But I used to find some of the enemies scary if they got me cornered; but that was just panic from the fear of dying.

Hasn't anyone played Quake 1? I'm a total fan. Remember the spiderbitches shooting the homing mines? Yuck! Those things freak me out!
