Re: WHOAAAAA!!!!!
That IS cool! I was sceptical at first, but I got it to work on my first try. It's been a long time since I've seen something new in keen!

Coincidence...
That's funny... just yesterday I saw a mention of this on a Keen6 tips + cheats page, and was going to post a topic asking if anyone had got it working for them.
KeenCommander: After pressing F10+P, Keen unloads its keyboard interrupt handler so that dumb screen-capture programs can get a screenshot (this is unnecessary for ScreenThief), then it exits. If you have Keen 6 v1.0, then this will happen every time you use F10+P; if you have version 1.4, it only happens if you press Enter after using F10+P.
This isn't a crash, it's by design.
Probably better is to set up screenthief to use just a single key (I like using F12) to grab a screenshot -- that way it's quick and easy and you don't need to bother pausing.

Note...
Hey, Forge, it's brother, not bother. Well, ok, it might be bother, but we don't want to assume anything.

i knew about the "ride the bullet down", but i did not know the "ride the bullet up" part. i'd always ridden the bullets down on the far right area of 1st Dome of Darkness. thanks for discovering the upward motion too ^_^ that's killer!

Re: true!
Naw, he's not a bother.
Andrew, thanks; I thought it had crashed. So, other people knew about this trick before, huh? Could you post a link to the site where you read about the Impossible Bullet (IB)? Maybe there are even more things in Commander Keen I don't know about...
Hey, I just thought of something else. In other Keen games (Keen 4 and 5) if you press A+2+ENTER, while keen is falling the controll window that usually pops down, doesn't; instead, some blocks of it do, and the game locks up. Or does it?

Re: true!
OK, the site was vgstrategies.about.com/li...galaxy.htm
I'll just quote it here:
Quote:
Glitch: Fly in Commander Keen 6:
Find a spot where you want to go up, and jump. While in midair, shoot down as you are falling. . If done correctly, Keen will be standing about a one shot width off the ground. Just look up and shoot. You will take off straight up at the speed of your shot. Note: Some practice is required to get the correct timing.
Information in this section was contributed by pbgoldeneye@aol.com
That other crash you mention (A-2-Enter while falling) seems to be a real crash; I might investigate why it happens...

I'm jumping down a cliff in level 2, (level 3 if you count the BWB-Rocket as level 1) shoot down, but I just land on my feet.

Re: kewl
Ok, In the past few weeks I've become an expert at this trick.
To do it properly, tou have to be falling slower than the bullet. Keen falls faster the farther he falls (to a point), bullets travel at the same speed no matter what. My favorite way to do this trick is to IP (Impossible Pogo) into the air, then just after he reaches the highest point in his arc (mind you don't move to either side, just to a completely vertical IP) when he's just started falling down, aim down and shoot. If you shoot down while he's still going up or too soon after he starts falling again, the bullet will outrun him. Also if you shoot too late, he'll pass the bullet. You gotta find that 'critical speed'. IB takes practice.

You can do it also without an IP.

It just occurred to me that it’s now possible to get those extra points in "The Bloogdome"; kind of fun to do what not many people have done.
