OMFG how confident you can get
I was at a place where, even now, I wouldn't dare go to without god mode. I, with my cheats, just jumped past everything nicely and surely. WHen i came on the other side, i found out MY GOD MODE WAS NOT ON. Holy...how confident things can get when you think you're invincible.

Re: OM-- how confident you can get
I know what you mean. But it’s not a big problem anymore, I can handle the confidence and not saving and live for a long while.
Although I do use save all the time, due to the fact, I can’t spare the time to start a level over.
And I only use cheats after I have beaten a game.

How confident can you get...
What's even funnier is if you make a mistake in No Clipping and fall out of the level to die (This turns your god mode off- makes sense- if you died, you aren't a god.), and then waltz off to another difficult level thinking you have God Mode still, and you can figure the rest out. Solution: Don't exit the level's boundaries.
Yes, I admitted it already, I love these new emoticons.

Who can beat the py of the Gnosticene Ancients in hard mode without saving? The bit where you have to jump out in front of one of those green candle-gun things, flick a switch, jump back up and avoid the other candle-gun on the next floor is... maddening!
The bit below the first temp steel floor where that smirky guy steals the extra lives is easy - if you know where the secret passage is!

hehe
what's even more maddening is if you're a completionist like me, and thrive on getting 100% of the goodies in all the levels (made playing games like DooM or Monster Bash frustrating because of the % totals at levels' end)
is there any way to stop the Gnosticine Ancient from stealing those Lifewater Flasks? i've tried various ways of travelling the distance fast enough to shoot him, but to no avail... he's too fast :-)

Re: Gnosticenes
Well, it is possible to stop him getting them; I have done it (once). I guess it just involves running down the slope and shooting at exactly the right moment (actually, before you really see him), and being very lucky

Re: Gnosticenes
I have managed to get those extra lives two or three times by managing to shoot him just at the right time. I managed to stun him when he was like 2 pixels below the flasks.

i know that it IS possible... i remember stunning the bugger as he jumped up, so his stunned and dizzied body continued it's jump into the flasks, but since he was stunned, passed thru them harmlessly. but i haven't been able to do it since :-)

I used to be able to shoot the smirky fella before he gets the bottles. The way to do it is to wait a bit at the start until the slug approaches you. You then have to jump over the slug and shoot the smirky. It's that *%$@! slug that's the reason that the smirky's difficult to shoot.

Re: Gnosticenes
My brother can get him almost every time. On easy or medium, of course.

Re: Gnosticenes
After reading TMST's comment, I went and tried it again, and was able to do it many times in a row. Here's exactly what I did.
I walked down the slope until I was just about to step under the first of the last four drops (there are three across, and one underneath the last of those three).
I stopped there, and dealt with the slug if it was around. From there, I ran down the slope and shot the guy as soon as I saw him.
Using this method, I was able to do it as often as I tried.

WOW! How confident can...
I was being chased by Defense Tunnel Sorra's Robo Red the other day. He was pumping a barrage of those red shots at Keen, yet I just pogo'd along, amazingly avoiding all of them. I thought Keen was dead for sure. Really. I was astounded at the amazing luck of it all and that was the first time that I actually finished Sorra without saving!
(Just thought I'd share.)

Re: WOW! How confident can...
Reading that, the Keen emoticon you used suddenly reminded me of Anakin Skywalker the Podracer once the growing eyes were at their apogee.
They resemble goggles then, and your post telling about how you used The Force to pogo through a barrage of fire ...
The comic of Keen, Anakin and Dexter probably had something to do with it as well.
Anyway, nobody was watching, right?
Things like that only happen when nobody does, just like the things you normally do with your eyes closed, you keep failing at time after time when showing them to somebody.
