Oh ya, I agree with it being equal with Jazz, but Jazz has too many bugs, so Keen it is for me! Jazz 2 is different, but it's obviously not a classic.

Of Course, Commander Keen is the best!!
But I always like Jazz Jackrabbit because you could go so fast

i think, duke2 is really bad, because of the spiders. Duke 1 is better.
I hate Jazz, because of the kiddy graphic and all, i think, was made for childrens between 5-9

Im not too keen on Duke 2; I like Duke 1 and 3D better. (3D is not a side-scroller, but I just mentioned it)
Jazz is okay, the graphics are a bit crap in some levels.

Yeah, the strippers always have something on. Usually pretty skimpy though. Not that I really find the pixellated people offensive.

Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem I and II were sidescrollers and Duke I was about Duke trying to save the world from the evil Dr. Proton. Duke II was about him getting transported to a alien ship that was planning to destroy all humans. Duke Nukem 3D featured Dr. Proton with another evil plot. IMO Duke I was the best. Duke 2 was kinda hard. And Duke 3D was OK.

The music for Jazz's 3D bonus levels UTTERLY REIGNS! (In fact all of the music is... dare I say it... better than Keen's! But that's understandable since Jazz was made much later.)

Since SURPRISINGLY the 'Jazz Jackrabbit' poll option here has gotten our attention, don't be surprised if an overflow of Jazz fans post here (and of course vote for Jazz). And yes, Jazz IS the best classic side-scroller, hands, legs, ears and noses down. Oh, and the reason we're classified as the "Jazz 2" community is because JJ2 has multiplayer and a level editor, y'know? Y'know? Bet no one here knew that. ;-)
JJ1 is still superior to JJ2. See ya.

Jazz 2/1 all the way.....
Yeppers, Jazz is great. Of course, no matter my biasedness, I have to tell the truth. Cosmo's Cosmic Adventures totally rocked the time it came out in. Then Jazz came along and did it again. Jazz 2, unfortunately, is not on the poll, but I have to say it followed the tradition. If we could only get a Jazz 3.....
Anyway, I'm voting for Jazz. If Cosmo had had a level editor, say, it might have gotten my vote though. I think Capture the Flag was one of the first games I'd seen with a level editor. *Walks away in nostalgia, then remembers to finish post*
Jazz 2-6 means the full version of Jazz Jackrabbit 1. If you buy the Jazz Jackrabbit CD, however, you also get the extra episodes A-C. Various download sites, including Haze's Hideout (squeeky.cytag.nl/~haze/) have Jazz Jackrabbit 1 Holiday Hare 94 and 95, which are both freeware. There's also episode Z (from JJ1) that has all the bonus levels. Also only available through the Jazz Jackrabbit CD, I think.
In conclusion, if you have Jazz Jackrabbit 2, and you're not already part of the "community", I do advise you to join. If the official levels aren't to your taste, you can either make your own or download others'. (www.jazz2online.com) For discussion on Jazz 1/2/3, you can visit the most popular Jazz 2 message board. (www.jazz2online.com/jcf/) If the internet play, doesn't work, get a list server patch, available in various places. Look around. Be adventurous. *Goes off to vote for Jazz Jackrabbit*

BTW: There is no Jazz3+. There is a Jazz3D demo tho... it's unrealeased, only a couple people have it.

I never liked Jazz Jackrabbit. I didn't run on an 286 and on other computers it ran to fast so I got sick.

Well, I'm from the land of Jazzy myself, but I must admit something...
When the chips are down, Commander Keen is my favorite game ever.
But I like JJ2 because it has a level editor and 'net play, which is nifty.
Jazz Jackrabbit 1 was kinda spiffy, but Keen wins out.
BTW, you forgot to add Jill of the Jungle. Okay, it wasn't better than Keen, and some say it sucked...
I say, step outside and say that
Monster Bash is sweet too. I think Johnny Dash must be Billy Blaze's cousin. The games are quite different, and yet somehow alike. Besides, the names go together

Yeah Frenkel you are right I must have gotten reading about DNF mixed up with played Duke 3D
I really like Monster Bash too. Though I always tried to use pogo stick to get to the higher places because I was used to doing it in Keen

Jazz 1 was the first game I got obsessed with, so that goes, and Keen was OK methinks. I like Jazz better.
Yes, I will admit it, Jazz 1 was kind of like a big Sonic-rip off, but I like Sonic, so all is well =). I've been playing the Sonic games for PC since I got them and I've noticed the big similarities between the two. MANY similarities. I liked the Jazz 1 3D bonus stages better, though, and I've actually beaten all of them.
You can get episodes A-C on disk, because before I got a CD drive, that how I had them. But after those were destroyed I had to resort to a handy Abandonware site. Too bad it isn't abandoneware, but I had already gotten the game, plus it was promised with Jazz2, so all is well.
Jazz 2 rux0rs becuase it has level editor and online play, plus Spaz and Lori rule.

On the topic of Jazz, I've being hearing rumors of a Jazz Jackrabbit 3 in production. Yet I'm pretty sure that was cancelled though, anyone want to shead some light on this for me please?

I've been bounsing on the S2B Discussion group a while (4 Months, mabye more) and have seen almost all the dirt on one of my few Favorite games, Sonic. After a while I found Jazz...
In my eyes, Jazz is better than all 3. And compared to how much it takes to run Sonic, Jazz is better.

I love The keen games, Sonic games and the Mario games
But for PC I would chose Keen because of two things:
1}it was one of the first games on my old computer I liked.
2}it gave me great game play that was like you were playing a Nintendo game.

The game is canceled. Most Jazz2 fans have the never released beta version though. I personally never really liked it. Jazz should stay 2D!

Wasn't it the only title they ever lost money on? In Europe it was different. It was the only title Project2 ever made money on ;-)
Btw, I can't believe that it was the only one they lost on. Since they went bankrupt last year.

I never worked with Project2, so therefore never kept track of their financial situation. Interesting though, after readin most of comments on this system, all of the Keen fans are stuck in the past. I can tell everyone from professional experience that there would never be another side scrolling Keen game like in the past for these reasons:
1. It wouldn't be profitable for the publisher since the mass population isn't interested in a 2D side scrolling title.
2. It wouldn't be in id software's best interest to bring the IP back just to do an old technology title, not even if Tom was involved.
3. It wouldn't be done like DNMP, because the sales on the PC wouldn't support the development costs.
4. It wouldn't be done on any of the consoles in 2D, because the mass market wouldn't support the dev. costs.
I suggest that the Keen fans get over the old tech of 2D EGA graphics, and think fresh....because I do know that a 256 VGA proto-type of Keen was made, but another title called Wolf3D came along, and they never looked back.

I loved all the games there.
Pity, I'd do anything to go buy those games right now!
I saw (in australia), I'm not sure, But i've seen registered retail Blake Stone, Hocus Pocus, Bio Menace, Monster Bash
but i never bought them! Damn it! I'm not sure if i've seen all 4 above games but i've seen at least 1 or 2 of them.
The only apogee games i registered are...
CK - Galaxy (2001)
Mystic Towers (199
Halloween Harry (199
Wacky Wheels (2002)
When I saw cheap apogee games. (AUS $12) I wouldv'e done anything to buy them!
I bought Wacky Wheels and saved for it (disk version), It was updated version and all and came in 2 disks. GREAT GAME!
(AUS $30) I know I got ripped off but who cares!
And Ck -Galaxy was the cheapest. (AUS $10)

I love them all.
But Keen & Bio were the best.
I'd do anything to go back and buy them.
I only registered, Ck - Galaxy, Wolf 3D, Mystic Towers, Halloween Harry, Wacky Wheels.
And i registered them all recently. Well, I bought them wherever i could possibly find them.
I saw Blake Stone (i think or was it bio menace) and a hocus pocus (i think or was it monster bash) games a long time ago.
I wish i bought it.
